Chapter 8: Creating Miracles.

Chapter 8: Creating Miracles.

We can see a group of girls walking through the shopping mall, despite the weather outside, they continue enjoying themselves without problems. Among them, one stands out with green hair. Unlike her friends, who were happily chatting, she was staring at the floor while walking in silence, holding the shopping bags filled with clothes she had just bought.

She was happy to be shopping, but she felt strange, as if something bad was happening.

—"Zelena, be careful!"– warned one of the girls accompanying her.

By the time Zelena realized, it was too late. She ended up hitting her head on a restaurant sign. Her friends, who saw the whole thing, couldn't help but laugh at her. It was no wonder everyone at school knew that the girl with green hair was clumsy.

—"You're so clumsy, Zelena!"– said another girl, laughing loudly. This wasn't the first time it happened today.

—"I know."– Zelena replied, laughing along with the teasing from her friends, rubbing her head.

—"Zelena, you're more distracted than usual. What's going on?"– asked one of the girls. Her friend had bumped into things several times today. While it was normal for her to have one or two accidents, today she seemed to be on a streak. —"I was just thinking about Bianca. I invited her to come, but she rejected me. She seemed different than usual."– Zelena answered sincerely. Before coming here, she had invited Bianca to go shopping. Bianca had seemed down, and Zelena didn't know why.

As her best friend, she should know what was going on with her.

—"I also saw her differently. Did she get a boyfriend?"– Those words were like a huge revelation for Zelena. Her best friend had a boyfriend and didn't tell her.

This was betrayal.

—"I don't think so."– said a girl with pigtails. —"She doesn't seem to care about love."– she continued.

That was true. Bianca wasn't someone who cared about love.

But one never knows.

—"This is bad! My shoes are going to get wet!"– complained the girl with pigtails about the weather outside. The heavy rain pounding on the roof of the mall and the smell of wet earth could be felt in the air. The clouds were huge and gray, pouring down torrents of water that seemed impossible to cross.

—"I saw online that they don't know when the rain will stop."– the girl with glasses said, looking at her phone, while listening to her friend's complaints.

—"The rain will stop soon."– said Zelena, and the girls looked at her confused.

Zelena looked at the dark sky, her smile growing bigger. —"I have a feeling something good is about to happen."– she finished saying.

Back on the streets.

The cold streets were silent, the only audible sounds were the falling rain and the sudden thunder. A flash of light illuminated the entire street where we can see two people looking at something straight out of a horror story.

Alice was trembling, clinging to Bianca's clothes. She hadn't expected the situation to get so terrifying. Bianca was on her knees, horrified. What she was seeing was from another world.

In front of them, the man who had seemed defeated earlier was now standing again. His body had taken on a new, more terrifying appearance than before.

The tentacles that had formed his silhouette had disappeared. His arms and legs had grown larger, resembling a gorilla's body, covered with black veins that throbbed intensely. His hands bore sharp claws that dug into the ground. On his head, the black mass covered his exposed parts, including his eyes, leaving him blind.

—"I want that ring..."– were the words that came out of the man's mouth, now turned into a beast. His breathing was shallow, as if every breath caused him pain.

Bianca couldn't believe what she was seeing. This man could still stand.

He had an unbreakable will, and Bianca would have been excited to find someone like her, if it weren't for the person's intentions.

The monster moved his head from side to side. The black mass covered his eyes, blinding him. Without his sight, he relied on smell and hearing to find his prey.

—"Alice, we have to leave. Don't make any noise."– Bianca whispered to Alice. She knew this was bad. They needed to get out of there. She didn't know how. The ring had stopped glowing, and she was exhausted. She needed to get Alice to a safe place while he couldn't see them.

Alice covered her mouth with her little hands. The look on her face was adorable to Bianca.

Bianca moved slowly with Alice, carefully taking each step. Alice held Bianca's hand at all times, not only to stay close but also because she trusted her, even in her state. She could stand, and now Alice began to admire her.

What else could she do?

The ring had stopped glowing. The power she felt had vanished. At this moment, she had no other option. Bianca clenched her teeth, enduring the pain. Every muscle in her body burned, as if she were being set on fire from the inside. It was hell. They had to use the time they had to leave as quickly as possible.

The steps, though slow, were silent. They had to maintain their invisibility as long as possible. It seemed like their retreat would work, but no one expected disaster to strike again.

---

Alice tripped on the cracks in the street, falling to the ground.

Bianca quickly turned her head toward the sound of Alice falling. —"…There they are!"– shouted the man, his voice understandable but filled with desperation. Even though Bianca couldn't see his eyes, she knew they were filled with madness.

Lady luck strikes again. Bianca had the worst luck someone could have in desperate moments. She was the definition of misfortune.

The monster began to run toward them, using his hands like front legs. As he ran in their direction, he crashed into a car, and upon impact, the car flew into another building. It was like a train out of control.

—"Alice, run! I'll distract him so you can escape!"– Bianca shouted, holding her metal bar. She looked ahead, seeing the creature heading towards her. There was no time. She couldn't escape anymore. Her fate was sealed. She had to act fast to keep Alice safe. —"Please, ring, glow! Please!"– Bianca screamed, looking at her hand where the ring rested, wishing to get that power boost again, wanting to protect Alice, but nothing.

The ring didn't respond.

Frustrated, Bianca thought of a solution. She couldn't let it all end like this. There had to be something. She looked back at the man, but her thoughts stopped. Her eyes widened. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Alice stood in front of the monster, her arms stretched out. Her small figure trembled, but she didn't move. She had placed herself in front to protect Bianca.

Alice felt it was her fault they had been found, and she wanted to take responsibility for her mistakes. Until then, her fears had kept her trembling, but now, thanks to Bianca, she understood the importance of protecting those who truly help you.

—"Alice, get away from there!"– Bianca shouted forcefully, in disbelief. The little girl who was supposed to be protected was now protecting her. Although it was a kind gesture, Bianca wouldn't allow a child to sacrifice herself.

Alice didn't listen to her. She stayed where she was, waiting for the monster to come. Bianca's legs, still aching, began moving toward Alice, as the creature continued its approach. When Bianca reached her, she could only hug her tightly, covering her with her own body to protect her from any harm, hoping all the impact would fall on her.

Just as Bianca thought everything was lost, she closed her eyes tightly, protecting Alice in her arms.

A loud crash shook the street. The monster's roar was abruptly cut off, replaced by a loud thud against the ground. Bianca felt a gust of wind, followed by a brief silence.

When she opened her eyes, the scene had completely changed.

The monster was lying on the ground, a crater beneath it as if it had been crushed by an invisible force. A few meters away, a silhouette stood with overwhelming confidence. His brown hair fluttered in the wind, and on his shoulder, a small black cat stared at them with glowing eyes.

Bianca's eyes widened. She knew this person.

—"Hey. Are you okay?"– asked the guy with a smile. —"That was close. If it weren't for me, you'd be stuck to the ground like pancakes. Right, buddy?"– he asked, looking at the cat on his shoulder, receiving a meow from it, as if the situation were the most normal thing in the world. The hat he had been wearing was now in his left hand, and in his right hand, Bianca saw a short wooden staff with an intense green glow.

Bianca was amazed. That glow was the same as her ring, but this was different. The guy held it like a magical wand, just like in the stories.

Stories?

Flashback

—The magicians who remained, afraid of meeting the same fate as their fallen companions, began to hide. Some did it out of fear for their lives, others from helplessness and the bitterness in their hearts. Slowly, the magicians disappeared, and over time, people forgot about them. The stories of magic became mere fairy tales, legends, things only whispered about—extraordinary people who vanished and were forgotten by humanity. To them, people who are different are the villains of the story.– — these were her mother's words.

That story she told her when she was a child.

Was it true?

Was this boy a wizard?

And why did he save her?

Bianca snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a deafening noise.

The monster, now more furious than ever, rose from the ground. Its deformed body releasing an overwhelming pressure. Bianca and Alice watched in terror as the creature advanced, their fear intensifying.

Suddenly, the boy took a step forward, his smile intact, even amidst the chaos.

—You look terrifying, that form must hurt... let me free you from your suffering— the boy said calmly.

The monster continued its path, getting closer with each step.

—What are you going to do?!— Bianca shouted, her voice trembling, desperate for an answer.

The boy didn't stop smiling and, without taking his eyes off the monster, briefly glanced at her, but his attitude remained unchanged. Instead of responding, he took another step toward the monster, never looking away from the approaching creature.

—I'm going to create a miracle— he said softly, still with his confident smile, raising his wand towards the monster. The atmosphere charged with energy, the air around them beginning to vibrate intensely. His wand began to glow with a bright green light that illuminated the entire place.

Bianca watched closely; what was about to happen was something magical.

—Wind spell: Hurricane!— the boy shouted forcefully, and a powerful gust of wind exploded from his wand, breaking the black dome that had trapped them. The ground trembled, and a gust of wind swept everything in its path.

Both Bianca and Alice shut their eyes from the force, it felt like they might be blown away at any moment, witnessing someone capable of creating a weather phenomenon.

The wind turned into an unstoppable whirlwind, sweeping everything in its path. The winds of the hurricane increased in strength, wrapping the monster in a spiral of ascending destruction.

The boy just watched as the monster rose... until it began to fall rapidly, crashing onto the street, creating a crater.

Its state was deplorable. One could hear the air leaving its lungs. Finally, it had been defeated.

—...not yet... I still have to fight...— the man weakly said, the attack had destroyed his body, the black mass covering his body vanished, and the pain returned.

Despite having fought with all he had, he had lost, and he could no longer return.

A fleeting vision appeared in his mind, a woman holding her daughter in her arms.

—Mom, when will dad come back?— the girl asked her mother.

—He'll be back soon, don't worry— the woman told her daughter.

—...I'm coming... don't cry... I'm almost there...— the man said weakly, his voice cracked, the sadness of not being there.

Reaching out to them as if he could touch them, his eyes filled with tears, falling to the ground.

The treacherous wind carried away the vision of his family, and slowly his body began to turn to ash.

Bianca opened her eyes, surprised. The sky, once covered with gray clouds, was now clear.

The pressure in the air changed, as if the weather itself had responded to his magic. The clouds dispersed, and they could see the sunset, the sun slowly disappearing.

The boy standing right there had been able to change the weather.

It was incredible.

The boy turned his gaze toward Bianca, his eyes radiating curiosity.

—Hey, I saw your fight, it was amazing how you fought that creature. What's your name?— he asked with a smile on his face, fascinated by her movements and eager to know who she was.

—...uh... I'm... Bianca— Bianca replied hesitantly, feeling strange about being asked that question in such a moment.

—Nice to meet you. My name is Lux, and this cat beside me is Todd— The boy, now known as Lux, responded, and the cat meowed again in affirmation.

Bianca was hesitant to ask but had to. Her curiosity was killing her.

—Are you a wizard?— Bianca asked cautiously, though deep down she already knew the answer, only hoping the boy would deny her suspicions.

—Yes, I'm a wizard— he said simply, surprising Bianca. Her mind told her that all of this was impossible, but her heart...

—Do you remember this afternoon when I talked to you about magic... and miracles?— Lux asked, his smile contagious, his eyes filled with excitement.

Bianca nodded slowly, unable to forget that conversation, though at the time, she had ignored it.

—Would you like to know more about that?— Lux asked, extending his hand toward her, as an invitation to cross an invisible barrier.

Bianca felt her heart race. The question seemed simple, but in reality, it was much deeper. Until recently, she had lived in a world where magic was just a fairy tale. But now...

She remembered her childhood, the fascination she had for magic and adventures. Everything she had buried over time, everything she had set aside for fear of not fitting in. Her "mask" had protected her, had made her act the way everyone expected her to.

But in that moment, under the clear sky, with the sound of the wind still vibrating in the air...

Bianca knew that, for better or for worse, her life would never be the same.

Hours later...

The sun had already set, and night began to claim the sky.

The blue and red lights of the patrol cars illuminated the disaster site.

Police, investigators, and government agents were examining the area, assessing the damage.

A crowd had gathered behind the police's security tapes. Whispers and murmurs filled the air, everyone speculating about what had happened. Some said it was a gas explosion, others talked about a natural phenomenon. But no one had a clear answer.

Broken glass, destroyed walls, overturned cars, a massive crater in the middle of the street.

Signs of the fierce battle that had taken place.

A group of people, dressed in dark suits, watched everything with seriousness. They wore no badges or names on their uniforms, but their presence demanded respect.

One of them, a sharp-eyed man, bent down and picked up a small fragment of the dark dust left behind after the monster's disappearance. He rubbed it between his fingers and examined it closely.

—This has traces of magic— he muttered to himself, standing up and looking at his subordinates. His gaze remained unmoving, but his voice showed excitement.

—This was the work of a wizard— he told his companions.

—What are we going to do?...— beside him, a short woman with shoulder-length pink hair, matching pink eyes, wearing a black jacket and skirt with a white shirt and tie, had asked her leader.

—Isn't it obvious?...— he asked with grace, his subordinate blushing at how he looked at her.

—...We're going to hunt them— he responded coldly.

—No one must know about them... for a reason, we are—

—...The wizards' hunters— he finished.
