chapter 62

Rose blinked rapidly, her eyes adjusting to the dim, golden glow of flickering candlelight. The air smelled faintly of roses and wine, an intoxicating blend that felt too vivid to be a dream. She sat up and froze.

A large, luxurious bed covered in crimson petals lay in the center of the room. Beside it, a polished wooden table bore a wine bottle and two half-filled glasses. Everything about the scene screamed romance—and something far more intimate.

Her breath hitched as she looked down at herself. Instead of her usual pajamas, she wore a silk nightdress, its plunging neckline and delicate straps barely leaving anything to the imagination. Heat crept up her neck, painting her cheeks a fiery red.

"Where… am I? Is this… the game?" Rose whispered, her voice trembling.

Her heart raced as she pieced it together: This is a scene from the game. She had seen moments like this in Mina's screenshots, but living it firsthand was entirely different. Before she could process further, the door creaked open.

In stepped Sylus, his commanding presence filling the room. He wore an untucked white shirt, his sleeves rolled up to reveal his toned forearms. The flickering light accentuated the sharp planes of his face and those piercing red eyes that seemed to bore into her soul.

Rose instinctively pulled the blanket up to cover herself. "W-what is this? Why am I here?"

Sylus smirked, tilting his head as if amused by her reaction. "You're the one who brought yourself here, aren't you?" His voice was deep and smooth, with a teasing edge. "And now you look like you've seen a ghost."

Before Rose could answer, a glowing prompt appeared in front of her:

Mission: Make Sylus fall in love with you. Rules:

1. Blindfold him.

2. Tie his hands.

3. Whisper sweet, loving words to him.

Her jaw dropped as she read the instructions. Was this a joke? A cruel glitch? She knew Love and Deep Space had moments that blurred the line between fantasy and reality, but this… this was absurd!

Rose's mortification deepened as she reread the rules. The glowing text pulsed impatiently, as if urging her to act.

"I'm not doing this!" she muttered under her breath.

Sylus, still standing by the door, raised an eyebrow. "What are you mumbling about?"

Rose panicked, waving her hand to dismiss the prompt, but it didn't vanish. Instead, it loomed larger, its bold text mocking her hesitation. Failure to complete the mission will result in…

She didn't bother reading the penalty. Her gaze flicked to Sylus, who was now walking toward her. His movements were slow, deliberate, like a predator closing in on prey.

"Let me guess," he said, his voice dripping with suspicion. "You have some kind of task to complete, don't you? That's why you're here."

Rose swallowed hard. How does he know?

Sylus stopped at the edge of the bed, his gaze dipping to the wine glasses and then back to her. "Well, sweetheart? What's it going to be?"

Rose clenched her fists. There was no way out of this—at least, not without failing the mission and risking the consequences. She glanced at the nearby table, where a blindfold and silk ribbons were conveniently placed.

Her cheeks burned as she reached for the blindfold. "Alright… but don't blame me for what happens next," she muttered, trying to sound braver than she felt.

Sylus chuckled, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Oh, kitten, you're full of surprises tonight."
