Building an Indoor Greenhouse

"It... it actually pierced through the tree?"

Su Chen was stunned by the scene before him, hurriedly rubbing his eyes with his hands.

"Could I be seeing things?"

He checked the tree's surface several more times, walking closer to inspect it before finally confirming the truth.

"A bow that looks like a toy, paired with roughly made wooden arrows... I didn't expect it to have such tremendous power."

Su Chen raised the bow and arrow a second time and aimed towards the sky. To his surprise, the arrow spun in midair and then struck the paper target on the tree again, hitting with precise accuracy.

"It turns out that although this bow looks like a toy, its power is not to be underestimated. Plus, it doesn't randomly misfire due to poor aim."

"This is truly a great bow. I must take good care of it."

Su Chen carefully put the bow into his pocket. From today onward, he finally had a reliable self-defense weapon, one that was surprisingly powerful.

Returning to his camper van, Su Chen noted that with this new vehicle, his reliance on the storage box would decrease significantly. He planned to build an [Indoor Greenhouse], [Tool Room], and [Workshop] within the storage space.

---

Now that it was winter, the weather outside was bitterly cold. Vegetable growth slowed significantly during this season. Just a few days ago, Su Chen had obtained three high-quality seeds with a threefold growth rate, though he still didn't know what they would yield.

[Indoor Greenhouse]: Su Chen was quite excited about this idea. He planned to grow his own seeds. On one hand, a greenhouse would create a favorable environment for plants during the winter. On the other hand, growing his own fruits and vegetables would provide an additional food source if his stored supplies ran out before he could find more.

Of course, nothing beats the taste of homegrown produce.

[Tool Room]: Su Chen currently stored a lot of miscellaneous items in the storage box. Not only was it visually cluttered, but it also wasted a lot of space. By creating a dedicated tool room—essentially just a partitioned wall for organizing tools—he could significantly improve storage efficiency.

[Workshop]: Many tasks needed to be done by hand. Previously, Su Chen completed most of them at the dining table. But what guy doesn't dream of having his own workshop? A place where he could do whatever he wanted, without worry or restrictions.

---

Su Chen made a simple plan for the 60 cubic meters of storage space. He allocated 30 cubic meters for the [Indoor Greenhouse], as he wanted to plant more crops. The remaining 30 cubic meters would combine the [Workshop] and [Tool Room]. This arrangement made optimal use of the storage area, transforming it from a simple dumping ground for odds and ends into a functional workspace.

With his initial plan set, Su Chen began working. Building these areas required a lot of wood, and he wasn't sure if his current stockpile would be enough.

Taking a hatchet, Su Chen headed out to chop wood. Thankfully, wood was plentiful in this area—practically everywhere he looked.

Living in a rural area surrounded by trees, he didn't have to worry about running out of materials.

---

Su Chen was well aware that he was one of the most fortunate among the world's 7 billion people. Naturally, he didn't want anyone else to surpass him, so he pushed himself to work harder to widen the gap between himself and others.

This advantage was something he had to hold onto tightly, never letting anyone catch up.

---

After an hour of hard work, Su Chen's forehead was dripping with sweat, and his hands were red from the cold. The winter chill was gradually intensifying. Even wearing a thick coat, his hands and feet could still feel the freezing air.

Fortunately, the results of his labor were worth it. Su Chen managed to chop 50 pieces of wood and carried them back to his camper van.

It was thanks to his Perfect-Grade Hatchet that he was able to gather this much wood in just an hour.

"I really admire those people who, at the start of this, had to use ordinary hatchets to chop wood. What a grueling task that must have been," Su Chen muttered to himself as he collapsed onto the couch.

---

After a short rest, Su Chen had enough wood to begin construction.

[Indoor Greenhouse]: Completed in half an hour. This was a simple greenhouse.

Description: A basic indoor greenhouse suitable for growing any kind of seeds. The enclosed environment is protected from wind and rain, providing ideal conditions for seeds to thrive.

In such cold weather, building an indoor greenhouse was an absolute necessity, Su Chen thought.

[Workshop] and [Tool Room]: Completed as a combined unit. This was Su Chen's personal space, where he could craft whatever he needed—be it knives, guns, bows, or arrows. A comfortable work environment would significantly boost efficiency.

---

With construction complete, there was now one crucial issue left to solve: the soil for planting seeds.

Seeds were categorized into four types based on the soil they required:

[Ordinary Soil]: Provides a normal growth environment.

[Good Soil]: Contains some nutrients to promote better growth.

[High-Quality Soil]: Rich in nutrients, offering an excellent environment for seeds.

[Perfect Soil]: Extremely nutrient-rich, capable of accelerating seed growth.

After a quick review, Su Chen decided to head out and search for soil. Living in a rural area meant that nearby fields were likely full of nutrient-rich soil.

Perfect Soil was undoubtedly rare and hard to come by, so Su Chen didn't aim for that. To save time, he decided to collect Good Soil or High-Quality Soil instead.

The fields around him seemed to have soil with decent nutrient content, making them suitable for his seeds. Su Chen quickly dug up the soil and prepared it.

---

Once the soil was ready, Su Chen carefully planted the three mysterious high-quality seeds with a threefold growth rate. He was curious to see what these seeds would produce.

The indoor greenhouse was spacious enough to grow up to 30 seeds, so Su Chen began considering the trading platform as his next step. Surely, there would be many people looking to barter seeds.

As expected, the platform was bustling with seed-related trades:

["10 ordinary soybean seeds for meat slices."

"10 ordinary corn seeds for meat slices."

"10 ordinary tomato seeds for meat slices."

"5 good-quality seeds for meat slices. First come, first served!"

"1 perfect-quality seed for meat slices. Only one available."]

---

The majority of these listings revolved around trading seeds for meat, highlighting the high demand for meat among survivors.

Fortunately, Su Chen had no shortage of meat and could easily trade with others.
