It was late at night, yet the regional chat group remained lively.
More and more people were joining, and the numbers were nearing fifty.
Most of them weren't here out of a desire to help others, but for the resources in this so-called paradise.
Many people here had already run out of food. Their only option was the food available in this fertile area, and they were willing to risk everything for it.
Su Chen was different. His food supply was abundant, but even so, he couldn't completely ignore the resources here.
"This fertile land… I must claim the majority of it."
Su Chen had a small bow and arrows, which gave him far more leverage than those who were unarmed or only had knives.
It was already late into the night, with only four hours left until dawn.
At that moment, Er Bao, his small furry companion, lazily ran into his arms.
This little guy had gotten quite used to their routine by now.
"Master~"
"I love Master the most~"
Recently, Er Bao had become increasingly affectionate and playful.
Su Chen hugged Er Bao and patted his head.
The soft, fluffy texture was incredibly soothing.
Er Bao was no longer just a pet; he could help with household chores too!
He was adorable, highly intelligent, but also mischievous. He was truly a family.
Su Chen had become so accustomed to having Er Bao accompany him while sleeping that he felt something was missing without him.
With Er Bao by his side, Su Chen felt much more at ease, and everything he did seemed more meaningful. Living alone would have made him too lazy to bother with many things.
Now, though, Su Chen's eyelids were getting heavy...
"I can't hold on any longer. Time for bed!"
---
Early Morning
As the sun slowly rose, warm rays of light streamed down gently.
Su Chen slowly opened his sleepy eyes.
He could occasionally hear birds chirping.
"There are birds now?"
He rolled down the car window, and a gentle breeze carried a fresh and clean scent into the air.
"The air outside really is different—so fresh."
Su Chen stretched his body, twisting slightly and letting out a long yawn.
"Ah, another wonderful day ahead!"
Without the pollution of industrial zones, the environment here was exceptionally beautiful.
The air was fresh, and the grass was lush.
Sometimes, Su Chen thought to himself that living here might not be such a bad thing after all.
The first thing to do in the morning, of course, was to eat breakfast. Only after eating and drinking his fill would he have the energy to work.
He picked up a small pot and gave it a quick rinse. He decided to make some grilled meat skewers to enjoy.
The food at home was plentiful, enough to support three meals a day without any need to skimp.
Of course, Er Bao would eat the same food!
A few skewers of grilled meat paired with some dry bread made for a simple but satisfying breakfast.
After eating, Su Chen prepared to head out and search for new resources.
Food would eventually run out, and his weapons weren't particularly advanced. If he spent every day idling, it wouldn't be long before others surpassed him.
Grabbing a hoe, Su Chen set out with Er Bao following behind.
Thanks to Er Bao, who was practically a genius, Su Chen could often find something as long as he put in a bit of effort.
Soon, they arrived at a wide and empty plaza, devoid of any people.
The air was thick with dust, making it hard to breathe.
Su Chen quickly instructed Er Bao to head back home since the unpleasant smell might harm his sensitive nose if he stayed too long.
At the center of the plaza, there was a blind box.
Following Er Bao's earlier guidance, Su Chen spotted the box.
"Cough, cough, cough. This place is way too suffocating!"
This was, without a doubt, the worst environment Su Chen had encountered since arriving. His nose felt incredibly uncomfortable.
Despite the conditions, he couldn't leave the blind box behind, so he braced himself and pushed forward.
Covering his nose and mouth, Su Chen approached slowly and opened the blind box.
"What's this? A pile of scrap metal?"
Once Su Chen got a better look, he realized it was actually a set of old knight's equipment:
A helmet, armor, a light shield, and a sword.
"Wow, this actually looks pretty decent!"
Although it was old, it was clear that these were quality items.
With a quick tap, he activated the enhancement function.
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully enhancing the item. You have obtained the Super Knight's Helmet.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully enhancing the item. You have obtained the Super Knight's Armor.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully enhancing the item. You have obtained the Super Knight's Shield.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully enhancing the item. You have obtained the Super Knight's Sword.]
This was a magical set of knight equipment.
Super Knight's Helmet: An essential piece of knight gear. Increases defense by 50 points and has a 50% chance to block head injuries.
Super Knight's Armor: A must-have for knights, providing complete protection from the neck down. Increases defense by 200 points.
Super Knight's Shield: Capable of blocking all damage.
Super Knight's Sword: Boosts attack power fivefold!
In an instant, the old knight's equipment disappeared, replaced by a brand-new set of gleaming gear.
"Whoa! Such perfect equipment? I've never experienced what it's like to be a knight before!"
A full set of Super Knight equipment now lay neatly in front of Su Chen.
Like many boys, Su Chen had once dreamed of becoming a knight, and he was no exception.
Seeing this set of equipment made his eyes light up, and he immediately began putting it on.
"What's going on? This equipment is so heavy!"
It was much heavier than Su Chen had anticipated, and putting it on was a cumbersome process.
"Ah, finally done."
Just as Su Chen was about to practice with the sword and shield, a male voice suddenly echoed.
The unexpected sound startled him.
[ Brave challenger. You are the first person to successfully equip the Super Knight's Gear. From now on, you are its rightful owner.]
"I'm the owner of this equipment? That's unbelievable!"
Su Chen couldn't believe his luck.
As he wore the armor, he felt a surge of strength coursing through his body. Swinging the sword felt incredibly natural, as if it had always belonged to him.
[This knight's equipment also comes with a matching mount, which now belongs to you as well!]
"What the… such a massive creature?"
A white steed suddenly appeared before him, its strong and majestic frame exuding an imposing aura.
Even though Su Chen was 1.8 meters tall, he seemed tiny in front of the horse.
"Have I really become a knight in shining armor?"
The steed approached Su Chen, gently nuzzling his face in a show of affection.
"Good boy!"
Su Chen felt a rush of joy. With this mount and the Super Knight's equipment, rescuing Wu Luoxi now seemed far more achievable.
Once he succeeded, he'd be able to claim a significant share of the resources as well.
Wu Luoxi probably didn't know that Su Chen lived nearby. If she did, she would've sent him a private message rather than constantly posting in the regional chat.
After thinking for a moment, Su Chen recalled, "At the foot of the mountain, near some small wooden cabins."
He had some vague memories of that mountain, known as Six Peaks Mountain, which he'd climbed not long ago.
"If I look down from the mountain, I should be able to locate the area quickly."
Su Chen decided to go check out her situation himself.
