Never Again

The chubby man wore a kind smile on his face.

"What an adorable dog! I like it. I've been here for days, yet I've never seen such a cute pet before."

As he spoke, he reached out to pat Er Bao's head.

Er Bao furrowed his brows and quickly dodged.

"Hey! Don't touch me, you damn fatty!"

"I only let my master touch me."

His entire demeanor radiated rejection.

The chubby man glanced inside the RV.

"Wow, this is a nice RV!"

"Kid, why don't we form an alliance? Xiao Zhang and I will have your back."

"I like this RV of yours."

The pockmarked man also took a peek inside.

"How come your RV looks so much fancier than our crappy van?"

"It even has a TV!"

He smirked playfully.

Su Chen had never been keen on teaming up with others.

Alliances were rare in this place, and even when they did form, they usually fell apart for various reasons—unequal resource distribution, disagreements, arguments…

Sometimes, allies even turned into enemies.

Besides, Su Chen had the Amplification System. Traveling with others would only increase the risk of exposure.

And honestly, why would he team up with two grown men? If he wanted companionship, wouldn't it be better to find a girl instead?

Su Chen could tell at a glance that these two were trouble—just a couple of low-level thugs.

"No thanks. I prefer to be alone. But I appreciate the offer."

His tone was ice-cold.

This immediately angered the pockmarked man.

His mouth twisted as he stomped up to Su Chen, grabbing his collar and glaring at him.

The man was already short, and even now, he had to stand on his tiptoes just to reach. His balance was unsteady, and his hands trembled slightly.

"Kid, you think you can refuse us?"

"You brought this on yourself! Now listen up—hand over your RV and all your supplies."

Oh, so this was a robbery? Would've been nice if they'd just said so from the start.

Su Chen remained calm, unfazed by the pockmarked man's threats.

It was unclear how these two had teamed up. Maybe they knew each other before the game started, or perhaps they met along the way.

Either way, they were clearly on the same side.

Right now, it was two against one. On the surface, Su Chen seemed to be at a disadvantage.

This was the first time he had gotten a close look at the pockmarked man. Not only was his face covered in acne scars, but he also had a ton of blackheads.

At 1.8 meters tall, Su Chen completely dwarfed the 1.7-meter man.

He tilted his head slightly, looking down at him without a care.

"Oh? And what exactly do you plan to do?"

There was a hint of mockery in his voice.

His expression didn't help either—he couldn't hold back a chuckle.

He grabbed the pockmarked man's wrist and shoved him backward.

The man was already scrawny, and next to Su Chen, he looked even weaker.

He was sent tumbling to the ground, landing flat on his face.

"Ah! That hurt!"

The pockmarked man scrambled back up, rubbing his sore backside.

Su Chen couldn't hold back his laughter.

"Where do you get your confidence from? You're so weak, yet so full of yourself."

The pockmarked man gritted his teeth, his face filled with hatred.

Suddenly, he pulled a knife from his waist.

"You think you're so tough, huh?"

"Let's see how arrogant you are now!"

The chubby man, who had been leaning against the RV, had lost his friendly smile.

"Kid, we were doing you a favor by inviting you to join us. But if you're going to be like this, then you leave us no choice."

"Oh, and that dog of yours—I like him."

"Hand him over. He's mine now."

Er Bao, who had been listening from the side, immediately jumped up and bit the chubby man's sleeve.

"I'd rather die than have you as my owner! I only recognize Su Chen as my master!"

"Argh! Damn mutt! You dare bite me?!"

The chubby man violently shook his arm, flinging Er Bao off.

"Woof! Woof!"

With a yelp, Er Bao crashed to the ground, his head hitting hard. A small trickle of blood oozed from the wound.

"Er Bao!"

Su Chen rushed over and scooped him up.

"Master, I'm fine. It's just a small wound."

"I'd gladly give my life for you."

Seeing the blood on Er Bao's head, Su Chen's heart ached.

"You bastards. You won't get away with this."

Rage surged through him.

He reached for his waist and pulled out a handgun.

For a moment, the air went completely still.

The pockmarked man spoke first.

"Pfft, seriously?. That's obviously a fake gun."

"Yeah, I'm not an idiot," the chubby man added, crossing his arms.

"Kid, that dog of yours is as stubborn as you. I actually liked him."

"It wasn't on purpose, alright? I barely flicked him, and the weak thing just crumpled to the ground."

"You should apologize while you still have the chance."

His tone was full of disdain.

The pockmarked man laughed.

"Hahaha, are you seriously trying to scare us with a toy gun?"

"I stopped playing with toy guns in elementary school, little bro."

Su Chen sneered.

Without a word, he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

A shot fired into the air.

There was no need to argue with these idiots—actions spoke louder than words.

Cold sweat instantly formed on both men's foreheads.

At the same time, they blurted out, "It's real?!"

Su Chen immediately aimed the gun at the chubby man.

"Any last words?"

The chubby man's body trembled. His previous arrogance vanished in an instant.

"I… I was just joking, boss."

"I won't do it again! I swear, I didn't mean to throw the dog! It was just a reflex!"

Su Chen didn't hesitate. He pressed the gun to the man's temple.

"Too late."

"B-Boss, I was wrong! I'll never do it again! Please, give me another chance!"

Ignoring his pleas, Su Chen pulled the trigger.

BANG!

Blood splattered, staining his face.

He turned around.

The pockmarked man was already sneaking away, nearly ten meters away.

Su Chen fired.

The bullet hit the man's leg.

"Argh!"

With a scream, he collapsed onto one knee.

Another shot.

His other leg was hit.

Now, he was completely immobilized.

Su Chen walked up to him.

"B-Boss! Have mercy! Please, let me go!"

"I didn't mean any of it! The fat guy forced me to say those things!"

"I'm innocent! I'll do anything for you—just spare me!"

"I don't want to die! Please!"

But no matter how much he begged, Su Chen remained unmoved.

He fired a shot to the man's head, killing him instantly.

Scum like them didn't deserve to live. Eliminating them was doing the world a favor.

If these guys were spared, they would probably never change their ways.

It was better to deal with them cleanly.

Within seconds, the two men lay lifeless in a pool of blood.
