Following the tantalizing aroma, Xi Bowen stealthily approached Su Chen's RV, hiding in the bushes and craning his neck to get a better view.
A luxurious white RV stood in the center with its sunshade fully extended. In front of it, a light yellow mat was spread out. Su Chen, along with a majestic white horse and a small dog, was enjoying a feast of crayfish and grilled fish.
The rich fragrance filled the air.
Xi Bowen's eyes widened in disbelief. He stood frozen on the spot, his legs trembling uncontrollably.
"A luxury RV, a white steed, and a cute pet?"
Watching Su Chen indulge in a lavish seafood meal, Xi Bowen almost drooled onto his pants.
"Ugh… even a pet eats better than me!"
"This is insane! Is this really Su Chen's legendary RV? No wonder it's nothing like what us ordinary folks have."
Xi Bowen immediately recognized the white horse. The memory of the battle against the barbarian tribe flashed through his mind—though, in truth, he barely contributed to the fight.
"And this guy… why does he look so familiar?"
A sudden realization struck him.
"Damn it! How could I be so stupid? No wonder that guy fishing earlier could catch so many fish so easily—it was Su Chen all along!"
Xi Bowen's face flushed with embarrassment. Trying to fish in front of Su Chen was nothing short of asking for humiliation.
Luckily, no one else was around by the lake. Otherwise, his reputation as a top-ranked survivor would have been completely ruined.
After all, he was ranked among the top one hundred worldwide—a formidable presence in his own right. But compared to Su Chen? The gap was immeasurable.
"My food isn't even as good as what that little dog eats..."
The RV before him was far from an ordinary camper van—it was an upgraded luxury model.
If he wasn't mistaken, it would require 100 refined iron to build.
One refined iron required chopping 10 logs.
100 refined iron meant chopping 1,000 logs.
At best, a person could chop a dozen logs per day. To reach 1,000 logs…
"This must have cost a fortune!"
The sheer thought of it left him in shock. Even Su Chen's pets were treated to the finest cuisine.
Seafood like this was something Xi Bowen wouldn't even dare to dream of. Despite being a top-ranked survivor recognized by his peers, the gap between him and Su Chen was far beyond imagination.
Everything before him was simply too overwhelming.
"When will I ever be like Su Chen—owning a luxury RV, a loyal and adorable dog, and an intelligent, capable steed?"
"Probably never… even if I worked my whole life for it."
Xi Bowen stood stiffly in place, not daring to make a sound. He could only quietly watch as Su Chen and his companions dined, wiping the drool from his face.
He had seen luxury before.
But never like this.
Spending money like water—even his pets ate better than humans!
Xi Bowen suddenly felt his legs go weak. With a thud, he collapsed onto the ground.
"When will I ever live this kind of life?"
Meanwhile…
People had grown much smarter lately, migrating closer to water sources. Today alone, more people had arrived at this lake than in the past several days combined.
Three strong young men, who had once fought in the battle against the barbarians, had since formed an alliance. Today, they had also come to the lake.
They had just caught a single fish—only the size of a hand.
They planned to return to their RV and cook a hot bowl of fish soup to replenish their strength.
Catching that one fish had taken them half a day of effort.
"Ah… I'm exhausted. Sitting there for so long made my back sore, and after all that work, we only caught this tiny fish."
"You should be grateful. Catching a fish here isn't easy—we haven't had meat in ages."
"There aren't many fish in this lake. Even if we waded in barefoot, we wouldn't catch more than a handful."
Just then, a heavenly aroma drifted into the air.
"Wow… what is that smell? Who's cooking?"
Following the scent, they arrived at the roadside.
There, they spotted Xi Bowen crouched in the bushes, staring ahead in a daze, completely transfixed.
In their group, Su Chen was undoubtedly recognized as their leader—a true knight among survivors.
Though Xi Bowen hadn't contributed much in the battle against the barbarians, wielding his sword alone had earned him a high standing among their ranks. While he was nowhere near Su Chen's level, he was still considered the second-in-command among them.
"Hey, isn't that Bowen? What's he doing sneaking around in the bushes? Spying on a girl?"
One of the young men called out loudly.
"Yo, Bowen! What are you up to?"
"It's broad daylight—why are you slacking off here?"
"Don't tell me you're skipping work, Bowen?"
The three of them shot him puzzled looks.
Xi Bowen noticed them and quickly raised a finger to his lips.
"Shhh! Keep it down! You guys have to see this for yourselves!"
Curious, the three strong young men crouched beside him.
"Holy crap… isn't that the knight who saved us before?"
"Are you an idiot? That 'knight' is the one and only Su Chen! We're finally seeing him in person… and damn, he's actually a good-looking guy!"
"My god… this is unreal! Look at that! A whole basin of crayfish and a massive grilled fish—at least twenty times bigger than the one we caught! How did he do it?!"
"Watching them eat is making me drool… I haven't had crayfish in forever."
"What do we do now? My stomach won't stop growling."
"This is unbelievable! We've been foraging for wild berries, surviving on stale bread, and barely scraping by with limited water—but Su Chen? He's already eating hotpot!"
The three of them were shocked to their core. Their legs gave out, and they collapsed to the ground in disbelief.
"Please… someone carve the word 'jealousy' onto my tombstone.!"
They wailed in unison.
"We thought we came here to tough it out, enduring hardships to rise above the rest. But now… it turns out Su Chen just came here for a vacation!"
Everyone had arrived in this RV world at the same time.
They had all started with a hoe and an RV.
Yet, in just a few short days, Su Chen had completely transformed his life.
It seemed like only Su Chen had the ability to turn this place into a paradise.
Nearby, Jun Ma and Er Bao were happily munching on crayfish. Su Chen sat beside them, peeling crayfish and deboning fish for his companions.
Watching this scene unfold, the four men couldn't hold back their emotions any longer.
The three strong young men hugged each other, their eyes filled with tears, exchanging looks of pure despair.
They couldn't help but exclaim:
"Oh, heavens! Why must you be so cruel to me?"
"Ugh… even a pet lives a more luxurious life than I do."
"Juicy, fragrant crayfish.... when will I ever have something like that?!"
