Cai Meier's heart raced uncontrollably.
Ever since her clandestine relationship with Qian Ran began, his teasing words often left her feeling flustered. She lived in constant fear that someone might pick up on the hidden meaning in his remarks. If that happened, her position at Shrek Academy would be untenable.
Her situation was far more precarious than Xian Lin'er's, after all.
Fortunately, most people wouldn't suspect anything without solid evidence—except for Ling Luochen, who already had an inkling of the truth.
"Fine, come over tonight," Cai Meier said with a huff, pretending to be indifferent. "Anyway, during the day, you'll have plenty of people to protect you."
Even if Qian Ran hadn't suggested it, Cai Meier would have offered. She simply couldn't trust anyone else to guarantee his safety.
Given Qian Ran's immense potential, Mingde Hall or others from the Sun Moon Empire might attempt to assassinate him. While direct attacks on Shrek Academy's members were rare, Qian Ran's rise was destined to alter the continent's power balance, making him a prime target.
"Xiaotao, you'll go on next," Cai Meier instructed, focusing on organizing the rest of the matches.
Although Qian Ran had secured victory in the crucial seven-person team battle, the subsequent matches were equally important.
"Understood," Ma Xiaotao replied. Inspired by Ling Luochen's earlier performance, she was determined to show her full strength and finish her match decisively.
Once everything was arranged, Cai Meier pulled Qian Ran aside.
"Are you trying to get me killed? You scared me half to death back there! Can't you stop saying such things in public? What if someone finds out about us?" she hissed, glaring at him.
"What's there to worry about? No one will talk. Do you think they'd dare to spread rumors?" Qian Ran chuckled, sitting down beside her and casually resting a hand on her silk-clad thigh.
Cai Meier froze. Despite her annoyance, she couldn't deny that Qian Ran's touch sent a strange thrill through her. His boldness always left her both exasperated and intrigued.
"You healed Dai Yaoheng? Since when did you have the ability to treat injuries like his?" she asked, pushing aside her embarrassment.
Back then, Dai Yaoheng's injuries had left even the elders of the Sea God Pavilion at a loss. His physical wounds were severe, but the damage to his martial soul was unprecedented. Healing a martial soul was considered one of the most mysterious and difficult feats, even for Titled Douluo.
"I do have the ability to heal martial soul injuries. No matter how severe the damage, as long as I have enough time, I can restore it," Qian Ran explained with a calm smile.
This ability, granted by his system, transcended the limitations of ordinary soul skills. Even if an Ultimate Douluo were injured, Qian Ran could treat them—though the process might be slow.
"You're unbelievable. Just this one skill could make countless Titled Douluo line up to beg for your help," Cai Meier said, her voice softening as her eyes sparkled with admiration.
Qian Ran might have been young, but his talents were truly unparalleled. The more she learned about him, the more she realized just how extraordinary he was. For those who lived in the same era as him, encountering Qian Ran was either the greatest blessing or the cruelest misfortune.
"But you're not exactly a forgiving person. How much did you charge Dai Yaoheng for the treatment?" Cai Meier teased, leaning closer to him.
"Well, not much, just…" Qian Ran leaned toward her ear, whispering mischievously.
"You can't be serious!" Cai Meier gasped, her eyes wide. Her heart raced as her body went soft.
This guy is too audacious!
But then, wasn't that exactly how Qian Ran had been with her in the first place?
"You don't have… peculiar tastes, do you?" she asked, blushing furiously. Did Qian Ran only like a certain type of woman? But that didn't seem right—after all, Jiang Nannan, Tang Ya, Xiao Xiao, and Ning Tian had all fallen victim to his charms.
"Heh, what do you think?" Qian Ran leaned back lazily in his chair, his hand moving to massage Cai Meier's shapely hips. The snug black pants she wore left little to the imagination, perfectly outlining her enticing curves.
"And what do you expect me to do about Yan Shaozhe when we get back?" Cai Meier asked, shivering slightly under his touch. Her body seemed to have grown more sensitive ever since she had secretly begun her relationship with Qian Ran.
Each time he touched her, it was as if a dormant part of her was being awakened.
"Simple," Qian Ran said, his eyes gleaming wickedly. "I know you've got that kind of medicine. Use it to make Yan Shaozhe… impotent. You know what I mean."
"You want me to drug Yan Shaozhe? And when did you get involved with Zhou Yi too?" Cai Meier's face turned as red as a tomato.
Her guilt over betraying Yan Shaozhe had been simmering for a while, but now Qian Ran's suggestion filled her with even more unease. Yet, a part of her found his plan tempting. After all, what other choice did she have?
Her heart already belonged to Qian Ran. She was even willing to divorce Yan Shaozhe if it meant being with him.
"Are you trying to turn me into a terrible person?" she asked, giving Qian Ran a helpless look. Despite her reproach, she found herself agreeing to his proposal in her heart. Qian Ran had an undeniable pull on her, a connection she couldn't ignore.
"Just be good to me, and I'll be satisfied. Don't go giving your heart to anyone else, or I'll get jealous," Qian Ran said, leaning closer to breathe in her scent.
"Did you tell Zhou Yi the same thing?" Cai Meier asked, narrowing her eyes. At this point, she felt she couldn't turn back, even if she wanted to.
"Trust me, being with me is the best decision you've ever made. Only I can give you the life you deserve," Qian Ran said with a confident smile, handing her a small box. "This is a gift for you. Wear it tonight, my dear."
Cai Meier hesitated, but her curiosity got the better of her. Opening the box, she found a beautiful necklace marked with the emblem of the Star Dou Auction House, clearly an expensive piece.
Below the necklace was a set of JK-style clothing: a white short-sleeve blouse, a purple pleated skirt, black leather shoes, and white knee-high stockings. Accompanying them was a set of black lace lingerie.
Cai Meier's cheeks burned as she looked at the items. Just one glance told her that the outfit would fit her perfectly.
"This… this doesn't suit someone like me," she murmured, glancing at Qian Ran's eager expression. Her protests faltered, the words dying in her throat.
