"You scared me! Wah, I'm so glad you're back, Qian Ran!" Ice Emperor threw herself into Qian Ran's arms, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
Di Tian and Bear Lord stared in stunned silence.
Just moments ago, Ice Emperor had shown none of this behavior in front of them.
Bi Ji and Rui Beast were equally shocked.
What kind of man was Qian Ran, to have earned the devotion of both Ice Emperor and Snow Emperor? Judging by their demeanor, their feelings for Qian Ran were anything but ordinary.
"I told you I'd come back safely. Why were you so worried?" Qian Ran flicked Ice Emperor's forehead lightly.
"I was scared!" Ice Emperor tilted her head up, her watery eyes full of grievance as she looked at Qian Ran.
Snow Emperor also gazed at Qian Ran with gentle eyes, her dignified demeanor radiating warmth that made Qian Ran's heart race.
Meanwhile, Di Tian pulled Zi Ji aside. "Zi Ji, what's going on? Did the Master give you a special task?"
Di Tian couldn't shake the feeling that something about Zi Ji was… different, though he couldn't put his finger on it.
It wasn't unusual for someone to change after meeting with the Silver Dragon King, but something about this felt more pronounced.
"The Master told me to keep it confidential," Zi Ji replied curtly.
Hearing Di Tian's concerned tone, Zi Ji sighed inwardly. If not for meeting Qian Ran, she might have ended up alongside Bi Ji, becoming a mate to Di Tian, the strongest soul beast in the Star Dou Forest.
But now, there was no longer any possibility of that.
Her heart was wholly devoted to Qian Ran, and her body… was even more bound to him.
The overwhelming pleasure and fulfillment she'd experienced made her feel like her previous years had been a waste.
Zi Ji was certain no other man could ever make her feel the same.
Perhaps the devotion Ice Emperor and Snow Emperor showed toward Qian Ran also stemmed from this reason. Qian Ran wasn't just powerful—he was gentle and attentive in a way that set him apart.
Having met someone like Qian Ran, Zi Ji found herself completely disinterested in Di Tian.
She also realized Bi Ji likely wouldn't become Di Tian's mate, either. Judging by the Master's intentions, she would likely focus the entire soul beast race's resources on supporting Qian Ran.
"What about Qian Ran? Who is he, exactly?" Di Tian pressed. If Qian Ran was the Golden Dragon King, it could signal a resurgence for the dragon race. The fusion of Golden Dragon King and Silver Dragon King was the soul beasts' best hope for revival.
"I don't know for sure. But Master Qian Ran's potential is no less than that of the Golden Dragon King. If he fully matures, he might even surpass the Master in strength." Zi Ji herself was uncertain about many things regarding Qian Ran. Despite their recent intimacy, she hadn't pried into his secrets. However, with his Golden Dragon lineage and his extraordinary abilities, his future as an unparalleled powerhouse seemed inevitable.
"Is that so?" Di Tian murmured, deep in thought.
He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something unusual about Zi Ji's expression when she mentioned Qian Ran.
Was she hiding something?
In truth, Di Tian was one of the few soul beasts whose entire life was dedicated to the revival of their kind, more so than even Gu Yuena.
If someone told Di Tian about Qian Ran's ability to extract soul rings and bones from Zi Ji and Bi Ji to grow stronger, he wouldn't oppose it. On the contrary, he'd likely encourage it.
Di Tian's vision for their race's future was unparalleled, even exceeding Gu Yuena's. Among the soul beasts of Douluo Continent, Di Tian's strategic foresight was unmatched.
As the former commander of the Dragon God's guards, he had once been a mighty dragon of darkness. His efforts to regain divinity were thwarted time and again by the heavens. Despite having the power to ascend ten times over, the limitations of the world kept him grounded.
In Dragon King's Legend, when Gu Yuena began falling for Tang Wulin, Di Tian repeatedly acted to prevent their relationship from interfering with the soul beast race's revival. At one point, he even sent assassins after Tang Wulin.
In Ultimate Douluo, when Lan Xuanyu faced a deadly cosmic tribulation during his ascension to godhood, Di Tian sacrificed himself, offering the entirety of his near-million-year cultivation to protect him. This ultimate sacrifice resulted in the shattering of his divine consciousness and his true death.
Despite his unwavering dedication, figures like Tang San and his descendants showed little gratitude for Di Tian's contributions.
Qian Ran held a great deal of admiration for Di Tian's commitment to his kind. To him, it was a tragedy that Di Tian stood alone in his efforts. It was as if the soul beasts were infiltrated by traitors, leaving only Di Tian genuinely loyal to their cause.
At the Lake of Life, Qian Ran quickly used items from his storage soul tool to assemble several large, sturdy houses.
For him, building a comfortable shelter was a minor task. He disliked the idea of roughing it outdoors, so when designing his soul tool, he had incorporated features to allow for rapid assembly of small homes in the wild.
Once the houses were ready, Ice Emperor and Snow Emperor began questioning Qian Ran about his meeting with Gu Yuena. Qian Ran told them everything.
"No wonder Zi Ji was looking at you so suggestively," Ice Emperor said, crossing her arms. Women's intuition was sharp, especially when it came to other women's attitudes toward their man. Ice Emperor could easily detect the subtle changes in Zi Ji's demeanor.
Even Snow Emperor looked at Qian Ran with amusement, her gaze teasing.
She knew Di Tian had long harbored feelings for Zi Ji. To see Qian Ran claim her first was unexpected. Zi Ji, the fierce Hell Demon Dragon King, was infamous for her ferocity, to the extent that even stronger figures like Scarlet King avoided provoking her.
"Next is Bi Ji, I suppose?" Ice Emperor mused. "Among the Ten Great Beasts, Bi Ji is ranked fourth, just below Snow Emperor. Her original form is the Emerald Swan, a healing-type soul beast. Honestly, Bi Ji's abilities far surpass Zi Ji's. Of course, Rui Beast is also a strong candidate. While her cultivation is lower, her unique status might provide you with some extraordinary powers."
Ice Emperor winked at Qian Ran, offering her "advice."
"You're really pushing me to find other women?" Qian Ran teased, grabbing Ice Emperor and giving her a firm squeeze on her shapely backside.
"I just want you to grow stronger, that's all! The stronger you are, the less we'll have to worry about your safety," Ice Emperor pouted, her lips forming a small, disgruntled arc. Of course, she felt some jealousy, but she couldn't let it hinder Qian Ran's progress.
She and Snow Emperor knew that Qian Ran's future enemies would be unimaginably powerful. They needed to seize every opportunity to strengthen him.
In fact, Ice Emperor and Snow Emperor had already begun strategizing about powerful aquatic soul beasts they could introduce to Qian Ran.
