Weird?
I didn't feel anything strange at all!!
This is the most confusing part for me!
Just like a man and a woman, if they want to have a good relationship, they must have some feelings for each other, right? No matter whether it is good feelings or bad feelings, at least they must have feelings first, right? Maybe two people will roll into bed while fighting?
But if they look at each other and see that the other person is just a passerby, and there is no ripple in their hearts, this is the real lack of fate!!
I am now in a state of absolutely no fate with this place. When I saw that Zhang Xinya seemed to have a fate with this place, I was moved and didn't rush to set up camp. I pulled her to sit down by the woods and asked what was wrong.
"I can't describe it..."
Zhang Xinya thought about it, pointed to the footprints on the ground, and said, "Look..."
These footprints are naturally left by us, spreading to the distance.
I looked for a long time but still couldn't see anything.
"How stupid."
Zhang Xinya shook her head and said, "There are only our footprints here."
Now I understand!!
Thinking back carefully, it is true. Such a vast alpine meadow, covered with snow, is so flat except for the footprints we stepped on not long ago!!
Is this normal? Of course not!!
Taiyue Mountain is the largest national forest park in Shanxi. There are countless wild animals in it, at least 150 or 60 species. This is deep in the mountains, and no one will come here. Wild animals should be very active!
Not long ago, when I was recovering from my injury, Zhang Xinya followed Brother Yaozi out to find prey more than once. There were many footprints left by animals on the snow, which made her remember it very deeply. There was nothing here. When she compared them, she naturally felt something was wrong!
In theory, animals should be more active here!!
The reason is very simple. We saw with our own eyes along the way that most of the mountains near the meadow are pine trees, which herbivores don't like. Sheep eat all kinds of grass. Such a big eater will only eat a few pine leaves occasionally, but never eat too much! !
In other words, this large meadow should theoretically be the largest source of food for all nearby herbivores! !
Winter is very difficult for carnivores, and the same is true for herbivores. They will turn over the snow and eat the frozen dead grass underneath!
But look at this vast snowfield in front of us. Apart from the footprints we left behind, where is there any trace of wild animal activities? !
I used a shovel to dig away the snow, pulled out a ball of dead grass covered with ice from the ground, and looked at it carefully.
This is a sheep grass, which is the most common forage grass on meadow grasslands. Most herbivores love to eat this thing.
But why are there no herbivores here when there is sheep grass everywhere?
After thinking about it, there is only one reason - the grass here cannot be eaten. Animals would rather go to a farther place to find food than live here because of their instinct to seek good fortune and avoid danger!
"Is it poisonous?"
I observed the sheep grass in my hand for a long time, but I didn't see any clues. After hesitating for a moment, I rushed to a short hill not far away, picked a big stone to sweep away the snow on it and sat down. I took out the telescope and looked down at the whole snowfield, trying to find something unusual.
This is a long process. I looked very carefully. I saw every corner of the snowfield and every ups and downs of the terrain clearly, and recorded them all in my mind.
Gradually, I finally saw a clue!
The color of the snow is different! !
This change is very, very weak. If I hadn't observed every inch of land in detail, I wouldn't even be able to find this color change.
To the west of this snowfield, the snow there is a very light gray.
And the snow in the place we explored at the beginning is pure white!
The difference between white and gray is very, very subtle!
"So, there should be something wrong in the west?"
I put away my things, immediately went down the hill, and rushed to the west.
Brother Yaozi and the others were confused by my series of strange actions, but seeing the joy on my face, they probably guessed that I had discovered something, and followed me silently.
After rushing to the west of the snowfield, I immediately grabbed a handful of snow from the ground, held it in my palm, and used the temperature of my body to melt the snow. After opening my hand, the snow water overflowed from the frozen red palm and quickly flowed out, and some shiny spots appeared in the palm of my hand, just like the golden light spots in the river sand under the sun, but these bright spots are silver! !
I shook my hands and rubbed them on my clothes to remove the silver spots. I looked at the sky and it was about to get dark. I suddenly turned my head and asked, "What do you think the temperature is outside now?"
"It's hard to say."
Brother Yaozi said, "It's very cold in the mountains. It's always lower than the temperature in the city. It should be minus 40 degrees Celsius!"
I nodded, took a shovel, and cleared a piece of snow under my feet. The frozen soil was black and gray, and the grass on the soil was also sheep grass, but it grew very sparsely. I swung the shovel and chopped the ground hard. The ground was as hard as a piece of iron plate! !
"So that's it..."
I finally smiled: "So the so-called blue moon and blue lake are like this!!"
"What's going on?"
Lao Bai said impatiently: "Why don't you tell me? Why keep it a secret!"
"Keep it a secret for now!"
I pointed to the low hill where I stayed before and said: "Tonight, we brothers will sleep on the hilltop in the cold wind. When it gets dark, I'll show you a miracle!"
Seeing that I didn't say anything, Brother Yaozi and the others could only suppress their curiosity and followed me up the mountain. After eating some cold dry food in the cold wind, I immediately got out of the sleeping bag when it was completely dark, and asked for all our flashlights.
Click! !
The flashlight was turned on, and white light poured out, shining on the snow. The snow was shining with crystal light, and it was a vast expanse of white.
"That's it?"
Lao Bai said angrily: "You let us drink the northwest wind on the top of the mountain for a whole night, and this is all you can see?"
I shook my head and told him not to worry, then turned off the flashlight and turned it on again. This is a variable light flashlight. This time the light has turned yellow. When it shines over, the entire snowfield is obviously much darker, but in the west of the snowfield, countless flashes bloom, which looks like a layer of galaxies on the ground, which is very beautiful.
Lao Bai couldn't say a word.
"This is the secret of the blue moon. If it weren't winter now and there was no snow on the ground, it would look even more amazing..."
I sighed and said: "In fact, there is no necessary relationship between the blue lake and the appearance of the blue moon. There is no blue lake here. What there is is just mercury!!"
The reason is actually very simple, but we were fooled by what Chen Lian said before, and we thought about the lake with all our heart. In fact, we thought too much!
I guess that the land to the west of the snowfield contains a lot of mercury, which is integrated with the soil, polluting the grass and snow, so animals naturally won't come to these places to graze.
So, what's the matter with the blue lake?
First of all, you have to know that mercury is silvery white, and normal moonlight is also white.
When moonlight falls on the ground full of mercury, the ground emits white light, which doesn't seem strange. People who have been on the road on a moonlit night know that if there are no street lights, the ground will indeed appear white, but this white is very, very dim. Because of the high mercury content in the soil here, the moon may be relatively bright, but it is definitely not as bright as when I used the flashlight just now. Ordinary people would not think much when they see it.
However, it was different when the blue moon appeared. When the moonlight shone down, the mercury in this place reflected blue light, a large expanse of blue, which was contrary to common sense. When Hu Wa saw this scene, he was seriously injured and on the verge of death. It was estimated that his mind was a little abnormal, so he naturally mistook the large expanse of blue light for a blue lake!
As for the twinkling stars that I just used the yellow light to illuminate, I can only say that it is probably a wonder that only exists in winter, because the freezing point of mercury is nearly minus thirty-nine degrees. Therefore, in winter here, whether it is mercury in the snow or mercury in the land, it has already solidified, so the ground is so hard, and after the snow melted in my palm, it left so many small silver particles.
At first, I used white light to illuminate the snow, and the snow reflected the white light strongly. There was a vast expanse of white below, and of course I couldn't tell which was the light refracted by the snow and which was the light refracted by the mercury particles.
However, when I used yellow light, the reflection of the snow was very weak and looked quite dim, while the mercury particles were very bright, looking like twinkling stars.
This is the whole secret of this place. It has nothing to do with the blue moon, natural disasters and other mysterious things. In fact, it was just a coincidence. The day Hu Wa came, a forest fire happened to break out, and the strange blue moon phenomenon appeared. It has nothing to do with the underground ruins!
After reaching this conclusion, Lao Bai and the others were obviously relieved. Obviously, the previous mysterious information made them very nervous.
After a moment, Brother Yaozi said, "So? You suspect that the ruins are under the soil containing a lot of mercury?"
I nodded and said, "Do you remember the story that the pitiful Liu Ma told us? In the story, the fairy gave Shi Kuang the Heaven-Repairing Stone to save him, which violated the rules of heaven, so the gods exiled them here. In the exile area, there is an endless sea of suffering, in which many resentful souls are buried. Without the handwritten instructions of the gods, it is impossible to pass through."
After saying this, I pointed to the west of the snowfield and sneered, "This endless sea of suffering is very likely a sea of mercury!!"
