Do you know what's the most horrifying feeling that a human can have? It's when your own is playing tricks on you. Aiden was very much with each step he took.
The neighbourhood was clean and very seemingly secure but, his heart and mind wouldn't take that as assurance. At one point he even regretted walking but, what can he do? He needed his Philip dosage as soon as possible!
He was paranoid, he knew that for a fact but, he couldn't help it. He remembered the neighbours who surrounded him beside his mother's unresponsive body. All that noise, and sad facial masks, disgust...
Maybe, he does need a therapist once more. After what felt like a half a day walk, Aiden saw the salon but, it was surrounded by even more people! Police cars were blocking everywhere, with some of them interviewing the locals.
He wished he could disappear so, he stood just far enough to dim their noises and called Philip who didn't pick up even after a third time but, before he got annoyed he heard Jake calling out for him.
And there he was Philip on the doorway waving at him to come over. He was torn between running towards him or just calling him over himself so they could go but, just like everything else with them. Aiden had to swallow his anxiety and just go to his girl.
After reaching him, Philip simply pulled him inside before shutting the door behind him.
"Hi, love" Greeted Aiden with a kiss on the lips to Philip who blushed at the end of it, "Hi"
"So, you must be Aiden!" Commented Aileen cheerfully as she extended her hand towards him which got accepted rather skeptically.
"I'm sorry, you work here?" Asked Aiden puzzled on where to fit Aileen.
"How I wish! I'm Jake's girlfriend" Introduced Aileen without missing a beat, shocking Aiden. So Jake wasn't gay? What the hell happened?
"Her name is Aileen by the way" Came Jake's voice as he untangle their shaking hands. He didn't like how long Aiden was holding his girl.
"You must be exhausted, honey" Said Philip as he led Aiden to one of the sofas, "Mind drinking some fresh avocado juice?"
"I would love that cold, please" Said Aiden gratefully earning a wink from Philip, "Coming right up, hubby!"
"Looks like we are doing a double date tonight" Said Aileen as she was eyeing Aiden intently who chuckled awkwardly.
"I hope not" Replied Aiden before accepting the glass from Philip, "I just wish to lay on our bed with this goddess"
"Stop it! You are making me feel awkward!" Warned Philip with a smiling playing on his lips, "Plus, I don't think Mr. Jacob Peterson would appreciate the third wheelers"
"I don't really mind since I planned to cook at home with some wine. You could come" Rushed to explain Jake. He was nervous beyond his years so, he thought if maybe, Philip was there then it would ease up the tension.
"So, it's Jacob Peterson?" Questioned Aileen as she turned to Jake who squirmed subconsciously, "It's cute just like you"
"Uhm... mh... thanks?" Stuttered Jake making the crowd laugh at his awkwardness. Philip never saw Jake like that with anyone. Ever. Should he concerned?
"That's still a no actually" Came Aiden's voice returning all of them to the salon.
"You heard the man" Supported Philip killing every voice of help from Jake.
After leaving the lovebirds, Aiden was brought back into the scary reality of outside, scaring Philip in return.
"What's wrong, baby?" Asked Philip as he put his hands on either side of Aiden's contorted face, "We can have Aileen check you up. She's a doctor even though it doesn't feel like it"
"Just hold my hand as we walk, that wouldn't freak you out much, right?" Asked Aiden or practically begged Philip who, resigned to his fate and held his hand as they walked.
Philip was talking about random things that happened that day and before Aiden knew it? He was all invested into what Philip was saying than his fear of the crowd.
Even the breeze didn't feel like tiny knives anymore, he felt like he could breathe again, his steps became lighter than the ghost's, he couldn't hear the screams of cries but, laughter from the people beside them...
"... So, there I was with my hair iron in hand..." Trailed off Philip when he felt Aiden slowing their pace, "You alright?"
Aiden didn't know how to reply to that instead of going down on one knee, startling Philip who felt like running for the hills at that moment. What was he doing in front of that crowd.
"Philip, I don't think I can walk any longer" Said Aiden before bursting out in laughter making Philip annoyed.
"Fuck you, Aiden!" Yelled Philip as he led Aiden to a nearby bench. Just people watching.
Philip never knew that just breathing each other's air out in the public could be that erotic and beautiful. Nobody said anything for quite a while before Aiden, held Philips hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"I killed someone before" Said Aiden somberly and seriously making Philip feel the goosebumps rising and not in a good way. Was he crazy? He didn't know shit about hiding a body let, alone keep a secret.
"So, the police are looking for you?" Asked Philip seriously and quite frightened. He was speaking to a murderer! Should he just make a run for it?
Aiden didn't know how to answer that since no police believed him before and left him to roam free, carrying that guilt wherever he went. He hated that burden.
"No" Replied Aiden simply before, facing the busy road once more.
"But, you want to pay for it, right?" Asked Philip cautiously earning a single nod from Aiden, "So, who is it that you killed? Did you dispose the body yet? Should I be your alibi? What's our story?"
Aiden was trying so hard not to find that amusing but, he did! There he was confessing his darkest secrets and Philip's serious reply.
Should he just come clean all the way or should he leave her thinking that it's a random person that he killed?
