The morning sun bathed the Kanu household in its warm glow. It was time for Victory, Destiny, and Adah to return to school. “Victory,” Michael called, handing him the envelope, “this is for your upkeep. You know the drill—spend wisely and take care of your siblings.” 


Victory nodded as Destiny made a mock salute. “Yes, sir. Mission accepted!” 


“Don’t joke about it,” Lila said, giving Destiny a playful but stern look. “And make sure Adah stays out of trouble too.”
