Back To School

The morning sun bathed the Kanu household in its warm glow. It was time for Victory, Destiny, and Adah to return to school. The past week had been intense, filled with events they could barely comprehend. The sense of relief was palpable, yet it was tinged with worry. After spending an entire week at home instead of just the weekend, they were finally ready to resume their studies.

In the living room, Amaka and Lila were busy preparing provisions for the kids. Bags of food, snacks, and drinks were neatly packed into a large basket. Michael stood by the door, holding an envelope of cash.

“Victory,” Michael called, handing him the envelope, “this is for your upkeep. You know the drill—spend wisely and take care of your siblings.”

Victory nodded as Destiny made a mock salute. “Yes, sir. Mission accepted!”

“Don’t joke about it,” Lila said, giving Destiny a playful but stern look. “And make sure Adah stays out of trouble too.”
