“Actually, that makes sense,” Ryan nods. “I want to go into pediatrics, and have been reading up on development. I was surprised as anyone that there are levels of autism. It’s a one to three scale. One being mostly self-sufficient. Two being somewhat reliant on their person and the third is what most people know about because that’s when it’s obvious.”
Needless to say, I’m flabbergasted.
Most people aren’t aware of that, which is another reason that autism is such a misdiagnosed and under recognized condition.
I’ll admit I’m happier about Ryan being under George’s microscope for a minute. I need a moment to process the too vulnerable feeling. Still, as Ryan goes on, I’m not sure if I feel more like a diamond or an ant.
The way that she’s breaking it down, makes it sound like an everyday, completely normal occurrence. I, on the other hand, know better and feel like I might just burst into flames when Ryan looks to me for confirmation.
