Charlotte stormed out of Alexander's room, her face etched with disappointment and frustration.
As she turned the corner, she collided with Melicia, who stood outside the door, a neutral expression masking her knowing gaze.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Charlotte," Melicia said, her voice dripping with false concern.
Charlotte's eyes narrowed, sensing Melicia's insincerity. "It's fine."
Melicia's gaze lingered on Charlotte's flushed face. "Are you okay? You look...upset."
Charlotte's lips pressed into a tight line. She wouldn't give Melicia the satisfaction of knowing what had transpired.
"I'm fine," Charlotte repeated, her tone clipped.
Melicia's smile was subtle, almost imperceptible. "If you need anything, I'm here."
Charlotte's eyes flashed with suspicion, but Melicia's expression remained innocent.
"Thanks," Charlotte muttered, brushing past Melicia.
As Charlotte disappeared down the hallway, Melicia's smile grew, her eyes glinting with amusement.
