Chapter 48

Alexander slowly opened his eyes, groggily reaching for his phone on the nightstand. The morning sunlight streaming through the forest house windows highlighted the dust particles dancing in the air.

He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, focusing on the caller ID: Tyler.

Alexander's lips curved into a wry smile as he answered, his voice laced with lazy amusement. "Tyler, what's so urgent that you're calling at...?" He glanced at the clock. "…8 a.m.?"

Tyler's chuckle echoed through the line. "I've been craving the day when you'd wake me up for a meeting, Alexander. It's been far too long. We have a potential investor interested in our tech startup."

Alexander settled back into his pillows, his eyes drifting shut. "And you couldn't have emailed me?"

Tyler's laughter grew louder. "Where's the fun in that? Besides, this investor wants to meet today. I've scheduled a conference call for 10 a.m."
