Chapter 37

Elijah's words hung in the air like a dark cloud, casting a shadow over Ivy's already fragile heart.

"Victor broke down after that accident," he said, his voice heavy with sorrow. "Everyone was convinced that Ethan was kidnapping Sofia, and once again, the enmity caught fire. Both families were thirsty for each other's blood, and blood flowed like water."

Ivy's eyes welled up with tears as she listened, her mind reeling with the consequences of that fateful day.

"And one day, Victor's mother died because she couldn't bear the death of Sofia," Elijah continued. "Victor was now alone, and the enmity increased further. Hence, a peace security agreement was made, for which the marriage of you and Victor was fixed, with the consent of both families."

Ivy's gaze dropped, her eyes filled with only guilt.

"That's why he hates me," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "It's all happened because of me!"
