The darkness outside seemed to recede as Julian emerged from the shadows, his expression grim. Victor's arms still wrapped around Ivy, holding her close.
"We've secured the perimeter," Julian reported, his voice low.
Victor's gaze never left Ivy's face.
"What about the attackers?" he asked, his tone even.
Julian's jaw clenched.
"They escaped. But we have two civilians inside, an elderly woman and a young man with a gunshot wound."
Ivy's eyes widened, horror etched on her face.
"Alexei!" she gasped, her voice trembling.
Victor's grip tightened.
"Ivy, no!" he warned, sensing her intent.
But Ivy broke free, sprinting back toward the house.
"Alexei, no!" she cried, her footsteps echoing through the night.
Victor and Julian exchanged concerned glances.
"Ivy!" Victor shouted, chasing after her.
Inside, Ivy rushed to Alexei's side, her hands cradling his pale face.
"Alexei, oh God!" she sobbed, tears streaming down her face.
