Glow Entertainment was located in the business district of the city, the building tall and large, covered in reflective glass that glimmered in the morning sun.
Feng Mei Hiu stared at the building with complicated emotions, years ago he had walked into this building with the goal of becoming a star and today he was walking in with the intention of tearing it down.
He walked into the building, the vast lobby filled with celebrities and staff, each person busy and aloof. The marble floors gleamed from the chandelier's light, pictures of Glow Entertainment's stars decorated the white walls.
A few years back his picture was proudly displayed on these walls. Feng Mei Hiu paused slightly staring at Zhao An Na's picture; the beautiful artist was dressed in a red suit his smile as gentle as always. I see you are still as fake as usual. He smirked coldly.
"Hello." Feng Mei Hiu smiled sweetly at the receptionist.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The receptionist smiled back.
"I am here for an audition." Feng Mei Hiu informed.
"Alright, what's your name?"
"Feng Mei Hiu."
"Mr Feng please sit down and wait, I will check for your details and someone will come pick you up." The receptionist said politely.
"Okay, thank you."
"I am just doing my job." She smiled at Feng Mei Hiu's politeness.
Feng Mei Hiu ignored the stares that his looks attracted, settling for idling away on his phone.
"Mr Feng." Feng Mei Hiu made his way to the receptionist when she called him, unlike earlier a young man stood beside the receptionist, he was dressed in a plain white T-shirt and a blue ripped jean a staff ID card hung from his neck.
"Hello," the man stretched his hand for a shake, his smile filled with eagerness, "I am Jing Bo and I will be your guide."
"Feng Mei Hiu," he shook hands with the man, "nice to meet you Mr Jing."
Jing Bo smiled, the intention in his eyes was not foreign to Feng Mei Hiu. "Let's go." Feng Mei Hiu nodded politely to the receptionist and followed Jing Bo into the elevator.
"Are you enrolled in an acting school?" Jing Bo tried to make small talk once both of them were in the elevator.
"No." Feng Mei Hiu's reply was curt.
"Why aren't you in one?" Jing Bo was persistent.
"I don't have money," Feng Mei Hiu stared down at him, "asking me like this, are you interested in sponsoring my education?"
Jing Bo was flustered by Feng Mei Hiu's stare, only now that they were standing so close did he realize that Feng Mei Hiu was taller than him, he had never seen an omega this tall.
"You're tall for an omega." He unconsciously blurted.
"Does that bother you?" Feng Mei Hiu could have rolled his eyes, why wasn't the elevator stopping?
"No, you look amazing like this." Jing Bo leered at him, "you're very pretty, but in this place everyone is beautiful so you can't survive on looks alone."
"Really?" Feng Mei Hiu arched a brow.
"You need strong backing too." He smiled cunningly. "I have powerful connections in this company, I would like to support you."
"What?" Feng Mei Hiu's gazed confusedly at Jing Bo's outstretched palm.
"Your phone, let me give you my number." The elevator opened with a ding as they walked into a hallway.
"I don't have a phone." Feng Mei Hiu shrugged.
Jing Bo gazed at the phone in his hand.
"It's not mine." Jing Bo's smile turned tight, he rummaged through his pocket and found a piece of paper and a pen, scribbling his number on the paper he handed it to Feng Mei Hiu.
"Call me." Feng Mei Hiu nodded.
"Goodbye." He turned after he led Feng Mei Hiu to a door. Feng Mei Hiu watched him leave, eyes turning cold as he crumpled the paper and tossed it in the trashcan.
Powerful connections my foot. Feng Mei Hiu could bet his life that Jing Bo was just an errand boy, such people were not rare, deceiving naive people who were desperate for quick fame into their bed.
The room was a large hall filled with about a hundred seats with a few empty ones. A few heads turned in Feng Mei Hiu's direction before looking away, thankfully his seat was at the last roll.
The hall was silent with most people focusing on their phones, a few were engaged in small conversation but the atmosphere was tense.
"Hi." A babyfaced youth smiled at Feng Mei Hiu once he sat down.
"Hi." He replied politely.
"I am Bai Xui, which role are you auditioning for?" He was intent in making small talk.
"Rong Tian Kuo." Feng Mei Hiu noticed the way Bai Xui's smile wobbled once he heard the name of the character he was auditioning for.
"Are you auditioning for the same role?" Bai Xui nodded, his warm smile dying down as he sized Feng Mei Hiu, he no longer looked at him as a friend but saw him as a rival.
Feng Mei Hiu was not surprised by his hostility, this was how the entertainment industry was, you made friends only when they were beneficial and turned against them when they stood in your path, he had first class experience.
Bai Xui didn't bother him anymore and Feng Mei Hiu focused his thoughts on the script.
The movie was a teen romance, a high school drama. It followed the usual cliched poor girl rich boy troupe. The female lead enters a prestigious school for elite people through a scholarship, while the male lead is the school's bad boy who can get any girl with a snap of his fingers. At first he is only interested in the female lead when he noticed that his stepbrother who he hates in interested in her, so he decides to sabotage their relationship but ends up falling for the female lead instead and thus ensues a dramatic battle between two brothers for the heart of one woman.
The role Feng Mei Hiu is playing, is a character called Rong Tian Kuo, he is the female lead's best friend who works in a bakery owned by the female lead's mum, a character who offers the female lead emotional support and advice, he also serves as comic relief and ends up finding love. He's not a major character but the role is good enough to make a debut.
Feng Mei Hiu's turn is still far, he notices yet another girl step out of the office with slumped shoulders, the atmosphere growing tenser so he decides to go get a drink.
******
"Owwww." The orange juice creates a wide stain on the vibrant blue shirt.
"Oh my God! I am so sorry." Feng Mei Hiu holds the half bottle of orange juice as he stares at the girl apologetically.
She stared blankly at him and suddenly grabs his wrist. "Come with me." She drags a confused Feng Mei enthusiastically.
"Guys," she slammed the door open stunning the three men who were arguing by the table, "I have found Director Zhang's Rose." She waves Feng Mei Hiu's hand like he is a trophy as she slams the door shut behind them.
"Wait happened to your shirt Nancy?" One of the men ask.
"Not important." Nancy points to a bewildered Feng Mei Hiu. "Look at him, doesn't he look exactly as Director Zhang described Rose?"
At her words the men focus their gaze on Feng Mei Hiu. A thin and tall beta with yellow colored hair and glasses that hung on his nose comes to stand beside him.
"He really does look like Rose." He smiled
"I told you brother Yue." Nancy beams.
"Hello, I am Yue Jingyi and I apologize for the way my colleague dragged you here." Yue Jingyi pushed his glasses upwards. "I haven't seen your face here, are you an artist from Glow?
"No, I was invited for an audition after sending a video of my acting to the company." Yue Jingyi nods in understanding.
"Would you like to audition in our movie?" The other men look at Yue Jingyi with an are you crazy look.
"I'm here for an audition." Feng Mei Hiu replied.
"I know, but you would really fit the role and if it doesn't work out I will talk to director of the movie you originally came for and have him audition you."
"Okay I will try." At Feng Mei Hiu's reply Yue Jingyi and Nancy smile while the other men just shrug.
"I will give you the script and you can read it over there." Nancy leads him to a couch.
Once Feng Mei Hiu saw Director Zhang's name on the script he was immediately hooked. Director Zhang was a famous award winning director who focused on romance movies, he had years of experience under his belt and his movies were almost always guaranteed to win an award, not speaking of the huge popularity and money they always gathered.
Between a cliche high school romance and grand breaking romance film directed by a famous director, even a fool knew which choice to make. If Feng Mei Hiu's interest had only being piqued before, now he was set on getting the role.
The script Feng Mei Hiu was given was only a description of his character and the scene he would play.
The character's name is Lu Baixu, but he goes by the name rose through out the movie. A young boy trafficked into prostitution by his lover and forced to become a sex worker, he is the male lead's first love but their love is doomed by their class difference.
"I am sorry I am late." A soft voice snaps Feng Mei Hiu's attention from the script to the door were a young male is standing, Feng Mei Hiu's attention is enraptured by the man behind him, President Gu.
If he wrote a list of the people he wants to kill then President Gu's name would be number 5.
"President Gu." Yue Jingyi greets with a slight wince, in his excitement on seeing Feng Mei Hiu he had forgotten they were here in the first place to re-audition Ruo Xuan.
"Shall we begin?" Ruo Xuan asked.
"Actually, there's someone we want to audition first." Nancy said.
"Who?" President Gu frowned.
All eyes turn to Feng Mei Hiu who is still sitting on the couch, each eyes hold complex gaze.
Feng Mei Hiu drops the script on the table, a smile on his lips. "I am ready."
