Chapter 35

Q had no idea what to expect for Socialization Saturdays. Sure, she understood the word "socialization" well enough—talkin', minglin', all that business—but it wasn't exactly a skill she'd had much practice with. Back home, the closest thing she'd had to a bustling social life was sitting by the fence talking to the cows while they chewed cud. And even then, she was pretty sure they weren't listening.

Her only real friend had been Maddy.

They'd spent hours together back in the village, thinking about how Maddy was destined for a castle while Q was meant for the simple life. Funny how things worked out, with Maddy actually heading for a crown and Q... well, trailing somewhere behind her, trying not to trip on her own two feet.
