"Why now? Why did you do it at this moment? Why kill his wife?" Rudy pressed, his frustration growing.
"Your preacher got greedy, too big for his britches," Kyle said casually. "Guess he wanted to spend more of my money on his male whores. After so many warnings, I had to take action. His wife was just a casualty. What else would you have me do?"
Rudy exhaled sharply, rubbing his temple. "I'm not angry that he's dead. He had it coming for a while. But this was the worst possible timing. The election is slipping through my fingers. With him alive, I could rally against an invisible boogeyman, use his influence to sway the voters. Now? Now he's dead, and this scandal is dragging down his entire legacy. My chances just took a major hit."
Kyle shrugged. "Sorry for not considering your plight, but I had my own priorities."
Rudy narrowed his eyes. "Who did you send this time? Max?"
