Suspended mid-air, Deva Path glared coldly at the trio of Raikage, Killer B, and Yugito Nii.
"Do you think you have what it takes to slay a god?" he asked, his voice icy.
"And do you think you have the right to call yourself one?" came the retort from Yugito, who launched another Tailed Beast Bomb. This one was massive, roughly the size of a house. As it barreled forward, it tore through trees and rocks, carving a deep trench in the earth.
But Deva Path merely extended his left hand. The bomb halted mid-flight, suspended in the air, and then, with a flick of his wrist, it was sent hurtling back at an even faster speed. Yugito leapt aside just in time, and the bomb exploded against a nearby hill, reducing it to rubble.
"Yugito," came the mature voice of Matatabi, the Two-Tails, echoing in her mind, "leave these probing attacks to Gyūki. My chakra can't afford to be wasted like this."
"Sorry, Matatabi," Yugito replied sheepishly. "I'll be more careful."
"Matatabi, you're too soft," a gruff voice interjected.
"Step aside—let me handle this!" said Gyūki, the Eight-Tails. Though the Tailed Beasts had their own space for gatherings, they couldn't enter it while sealed within their hosts. Only in cases like Matatabi and Gyūki, who shared a perfect bond with their jinchūriki, could they communicate freely without breaking the seal.
Seizing the brief cooldown of Shinra Tensei, Gyūki launched an attack. His massive octopus tentacles lashed out at Deva Path, each strike carrying earth-shattering force, as if determined to grind the enemy into dust.
The winds generated by the attack whipped at Deva Path's cloak, but he remained unmoved. Raising his right hand once more, a wave of repulsive force surged out. The tentacles froze mid-air, as though someone had hit a pause button, and then they were flung backward, flipping Gyūki over in the process.
"Gyūki, you're not much stronger yourself," Matatabi teased.
"Tch. Even the old man gave you extra chakra, and look at you now."
"Ha! Gyūki got owned—oh yeah!"
"Shut up!" Gyūki snapped.
"Ahem," Gyūki said, clearing his throat to change the subject. "Everyone, be careful. The enemy's cooldown time is shortening, and their power is increasing."
"No need to state the obvious," Yugito muttered.
"Let's coordinate our attacks and test them further," Matatabi suggested.
"Fine. Watch me," Gyūki growled. Throwing his head back, he began to charge a colossal Tailed Beast Bomb, far larger and more concentrated than Matatabi's earlier attempt.
"You will all bow before god!" declared Nagato, controlling Deva Path. Extending both arms to his sides, he began gathering energy for an even greater technique.
"Feel the pain!" he cried.
"Super Shinra Tensei!"
A tremendous wave of repulsive force erupted from Deva Path, spreading out like an expanding sphere. Everything in its path—trees, rocks, and even the ground itself—was obliterated. Yugito, Killer B, and the Fourth Raikage were caught in its devastating radius.
Nagato smirked. It was obvious what his opponents were trying to do: probe the cooldown time of his abilities. But with the Fourth Raikage's speed, even a single second could be dangerous.
Too bad. The power of a god is beyond their comprehension.
If avoiding their strikes was impossible, then all he needed to do was crush every enemy in one move.
"Such a flashy attack, and I still lost. What a disgrace. I'm such a fool," Killer B rapped weakly, struggling to stay conscious in his Tailed Beast form.
"B! Snap out of it!" Gyūki roared. "The enemy won't give you any time!"
Nearby, Yugito struggled to her feet, her gaze fixed on the massive crater in front of her—large enough to rival Kumogakure itself. Her eyes were filled with fear.
"This… This is insane!"
"So, this is the power of the Sage of Six Paths' Rinnegan?" Matatabi murmured. Though the Tailed Beasts were created by the Sage himself, they had never witnessed his power in action. By the time they were split, the Sage had long since pacified his enemies.
The Fourth Raikage climbed out of the rubble, his Lightning Release armor protecting him from serious harm. However, his face darkened as he surveyed the heavy losses among the Kumogakure forces.
They had kept their distance after the Tailed Beast battle began, but no one had anticipated the enemy's attack to have such a massive range.
"We only wanted to watch, and now we're all but wiped out," he muttered bitterly.
"Is this all you've got?" Deva Path asked disdainfully, gazing at the battered trio.
In the past, these three might have posed a real threat. But now, even such overwhelming techniques only left Nagato mildly fatigued.
"Since this battle bores me, I'll end it with my next move," he declared.
"No way!"
"Run! B, run! Matatabi, get out of here!" Gyūki shouted.
Nagato's hands formed a seal as a small black orb rose into the sky, seemingly unremarkable. But both Matatabi and Gyūki instantly sensed the aura of death radiating from it.
Buzz!
A low hum filled the air as the orb reached its peak, casting a shadow over the battlefield.
Gravity surged outward, pulling everything—trees, stones, even the ground itself—into the black sphere. In moments, an enormous mass of debris had formed, resembling a new moon hanging in the sky.
"I can't break free!" Gyūki cried, his tentacles flailing uselessly.
"Try a Tailed Beast Bomb!" He fired three in rapid succession, and Matatabi followed with another.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions rippled across the sphere's surface, but they had no effect. The debris merely reassembled, sucked back into the orb.
"You're still far too weak to break my Chibaku Tensei," Nagato said. Crossing his hands, he exerted even more power, sealing the Two-Tails, Eight-Tails, and the Fourth Raikage within.
Just as he was about to complete the final step, however, the massive structure began to crumble. Killer B and the Fourth Raikage burst free, their combined strength shattering the technique.
"Damn it!" Nagato cursed.
"Take this! Lariat!" The Raikage dashed forward in a flash of lightning, aiming a devastating blow at Deva Path.
