Chapter 77: The Two-Part Ninja World Agreement

The current situation in the Ninja World could only be described as turbulent. Konoha was on the brink of collapse, but after defeating the Fourth Raikage and Killer Bee with the help of Deidara and Sasori, Konoha signed a peace agreement with Kumogakure. This allowed Konoha to focus all its forces on battling Sunagakure, which, of course, couldn't withstand the pressure. Just as Danzo was about to bask in the glory of a great victory, something unexpected happened.

Iwagakure struck, attacking Sunagakure just as they were about to clash with Konoha, and stole Konoha's "peach."

When Danzo heard the news, it was said that he was so furious that not only did he destroy his Hokage desk, but he also turned the entire Hokage office upside down.

As a result, Konoha's long-running war effort, at great cost, ended in nothing, turning them into the laughingstock of the Ninja World.

"Lord Hokage, now that the war is over, shouldn't we lower the taxes and begin recovery efforts?"

Nara Shikaku asked hesitantly in the Hokage office. He knew Danzo would likely disapprove of this question, but he had no choice—Konoha's economy was on the verge of collapse. If they continued to squeeze the villagers, it would only harm the foundation, and dissent would be harder and harder to suppress.

"Shikaku!" Danzo growled, his temper already flaring.

"Although there's temporary peace, to the west, Iwagakure has stolen our 'peach,' and to the east, Kumogakure is still eyeing us. Now is not the time to relax!" Danzo added.

Shikaku sighed softly, not daring to argue further.

At that moment, a familiar figure in a tight green jumpsuit—none other than Might Guy—burst into the room.

"Hokage-sama! Please allow me to leave the village and bring Kakashi back! I don't believe he would betray the village—there must be some kind of misunderstanding!" Might Guy said, his expression filled with emotion.

It was impossible to describe how stunned Guy had been when he returned from a mission to find out that Kakashi had betrayed Konoha. This couldn't be true! Kakashi would never betray the village!

Danzo, feeling a slight headache, knew full well there was no misunderstanding—he had personally orchestrated Kakashi's betrayal.

But it wasn't out of personal interest, it was all for Konoha. Without Kakashi as leverage, could he have brought in Deidara and Sasori? Could he have defeated Kumogakure? Could he have secured peace?

And in the process, he even managed to make a profit from a mysterious benefactor, who had specifically requested that Deidara be sent to the front lines.

Exchanging one Kakashi for so many advantages was a bargain, wasn't it?

Of course, no one could know the truth behind the scenes—Danzo would bear all the blame.

"Might Guy, Kakashi's betrayal is a fact. Don't waste your time with this nonsense."

"Right now, with the village in such a tense situation, as one of our strongest forces, you should focus on contributing to the village, not indulging in personal matters!" Danzo reprimanded, leaning on his cane.

Danzo hadn't sent Might Guy to the front lines for two reasons: one, he didn't know Guy's true strength, and two, the village still needed high-level forces for S-rank missions. The rewards from these missions were crucial for Konoha, which was now impoverished.

Especially for someone like Might Guy, who was a one-track mind, all it took was a few words of praise, and he'd gladly take the rewards for himself. It was a win-win situation!

However, when it came to Kakashi, Might Guy's resolve was unshakeable. Danzo couldn't fool him.

After arguing with Danzo for a while and getting nowhere, Might Guy abruptly turned and stormed out.

"Sorry, Hokage-sama! I must bring Kakashi back!"

Seeing Guy running toward the village exit, Danzo's rage reached a boiling point.

"These rebellious villagers! They all refuse to follow orders! If only I'd trained them all under Root's methods—then Konoha would have been united and wouldn't have ended up in this mess!"

"Hokage-sama, what should we do? Should we capture Might Guy?" Danzo's assistant inquired.

"Capture him? With what?!" Danzo yelled in frustration. Even with Might Guy's six gates of power on full display, no one in the village, aside from Jiraiya, could stand a chance against him.

But would Jiraiya help him?

Clearly not.

After venting his frustration, Danzo lost interest in his paperwork and headed straight for the Root base. He just wanted a break.

...

As soon as he entered the Root base, a White Zetsu appeared from the ceiling.

"Who goes there?" The Root guards immediately took battle stances, but Danzo merely looked up coldly. "Didn't he come in person? He sent someone like you to deliver the message?"

White Zetsu didn't take offense at Danzo's dismissiveness—then again, White Zetsu didn't feel emotions like anger.

"Here! This is the reward for this transaction." White Zetsu handed over two bottles of green liquid—matured Senju cells.

Obito knew Danzo had a certain ability, especially now that Konoha was in a difficult situation. He dared not appear in person, afraid that if Danzo's ability controlled him, it would be disastrous.

A Root ninja stepped forward and took the vials. Danzo examined them and nodded.

"You may leave."

"Not yet!" White Zetsu exaggeratedly refused. "I still have something to bring."

"What is it?" Danzo asked coldly.

"We'd like to make a deal with you," White Zetsu replied.

"A deal?"

"Split the Ninja World in two. Kumogakure is already under our control. Before that, we'll deal with Kirigakure."

"And you, Konoha, will deal with Iwagakure. Once we control half of the Ninja World, we'll settle things once and for all. Otherwise, we'll end up like now—other villages or Akatsuki will reap the rewards," White Zetsu proposed.

A two-part Ninja World? It was indeed a tempting offer. Danzo thought for a moment, then nodded.

"Agreed."

"Then, goodbye!" White Zetsu waved, disappearing again.

After White Zetsu left, Danzo continued into the depths of the Root base, where he had set up a research institute full of various talents working on different projects.

These included, but weren't limited to, the First Hokage's cells, Impure World Reincarnation, Flying Thunder God, and the Sharingan. Unfortunately, ordinary talents were easy to find, but people like Orochimaru, who could make groundbreaking achievements, were nearly impossible to come by. As a result, there had been little tangible progress.

However, although his research abilities were limited, identifying things was still no problem.

"Hokage-sama, this is definitely mature First Hokage cells. Once implanted, the user will immediately gain control over Wood Release, and the proficiency will be very high," one of the researchers said excitedly.

"Danzo-sama, will you use it yourself?" Ryoma asked.

"No!" Danzo surprisingly refused.

"Have you forgotten? Konoha already has a Wood Release user—the last member of the Senju clan."

"They are the ones most suited to use it."
