Boom!
A deafening explosion shook the ground.
The massive Rasengan slammed into Deidara, piercing through a slug and leaving a gigantic, funnel-shaped crater in the earth.
"Deidara!" Hidan cried out in shock.
Even Kakuzu and Orochimaru couldn't help but tense up. Could that brat really have turned the tables on them?
"Hmm? Is that guy dead?"
"Why haven't the things he summoned disappeared yet?" Kurama wondered aloud.
Cough, cough!
Emerging from the dust, Deidara looked a little worse for wear. Relief from narrowly escaping death mingled with the thrill of meeting a worthy opponent on his face.
"Minato, you're a truly dangerous adversary. I almost died back there."
"You even managed to leave a Flying Thunder God seal on my slug. You must've placed it when your Rasengan hit. Truly impossible to guard against."
This had been the closest brush with death Deidara had experienced since he arrived in this world. Sure, even if he died, Edo Tensei could bring him back, and that form would be even stronger and more convenient in some ways.
But still, staying alive was better. After all, how would an Edo Tensei body allow him to have...
"Impossible! We clearly hit you just now! Was that just a clone?" Kurama exclaimed in disbelief.
"No, that was definitely his real body! You can't fool my sensory abilities!" Kurama immediately contradicted itself.
Deidara rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"Well, there's no point in keeping it a secret. This ability is purely circumstantial. If you'd used a different type of attack earlier, I'd be dead for real."
"First off, my body can transform into clay. You've already noticed that, right?" Deidara raised his right hand, which morphed into clay and flexed slightly.
"There's a concept called elementalization—though you probably don't fully understand it."
"In simple terms, I broke my body down into nano-scale explosive particles during your Wind Release attack and then reassembled myself afterward," Deidara explained.
This was why he'd narrowly avoided death. If their attack had been Fire Release, Lightning Release, or even Naruto's future micro-level Rasenshuriken, he'd have died even as nano-scale particles.
Wind Release, however, was different. It lacked the ability to attack on such a microscopic scale.
Take hurricanes, for example—they can demolish houses, trees, and rocks, but tiny grains of sand remain unaffected. In contrast, extreme heat could melt or even vaporize sand.
Deidara had been working on his C4 Karura. While it wasn't complete yet, he'd made significant progress.
"Fascinating! Deidara truly has a creative mind," Orochimaru said, licking his lips again for some inexplicable reason.
"Why don't you take a bite out of him, then?" Hidan teased.
Orochimaru chuckled subtly. "My instincts tell me that's a bad idea."
Back on the battlefield, Minato realized that his attempt to ambush Deidara with the Flying Thunder God had failed. He now had no choice but to unleash Kurama's full power. The enemy wouldn't give him a second chance at a sneak attack.
"Leave it to me!" Kurama growled eagerly. It had been itching to break free from the restrained fighting style.
Drip!
A massive Tailed Beast Bomb formed once more.
Deidara smirked, pleased. Finally, he was about to collect a Tailed Beast Bomb from Kurama.
C3: Voracious Frog!
A large, pot-bellied frog appeared on the battlefield and swallowed the incoming Tailed Beast Bomb whole.
Sacrifice!
Explosion Mastery Level 3 Unlocked!
"What happened? Where's my Tailed Beast Bomb?" Kurama demanded, bewildered.
"Thanks for the Tailed Beast Bomb, Kurama," Deidara replied with a grin.
"Hmph!"
"Don't think nullifying one Tailed Beast Bomb is enough to stop me!" Kurama roared, already charging another.
Whoosh!
The frog slithered into position, its powerful explosion neutralizing the second Tailed Beast Bomb.
From the shadows, the fleshy tendrils of the Meat Mountain emerged, reaching for Kurama.
Whoosh!
Minato teleported with Flying Thunder God, repositioning Kurama to the Meat Mountain's left. Another Tailed Beast Bomb fired from its maw.
Boom!
The Voracious Frog leapt in once again, swallowing the bomb. Its stomach swelled dangerously, nearly bursting before it opened its mouth to vent the intense heat and shockwave.
The sheer power of the Tailed Beast Bomb stunned Deidara. Even the frog, designed to consume these attacks, had almost failed.
"So that's the purpose of this frog?"
"Ouch! I didn't realize my Tailed Beast Bombs were this powerful!" Kurama yelped, clearly injured. Unlike Minato's Edo Tensei body, Kurama's current form was its true self.
"Kurama, let me take over," Minato said, seizing control. A powerful Wind Release jutsu erupted from his arsenal.
A violent storm erupted from Kurama's mouth, smothering the heat and shockwave the frog had unleashed. Meanwhile, Kurama's tails stretched out, aiming for the frog.
The Meat Mountain's tendrils tangled with Kurama's tails once again. As the main body advanced quickly, Deidara rose higher into the air atop his clay bird.
Minato's sharp intuition sensed something amiss.
"Kurama, they've already gathered the Tailed Beast Bombs they needed. I think they're planning to detonate that giant creature!"
"Rapid-fire Tailed Beast Bombs!" Without waiting for Minato's warning, Kurama launched three consecutive bombs at the Meat Mountain.
Boom!
The frog swallowed one, using its explosion to neutralize the second. The slug crawled into the fray, sacrificing itself to negate the third.
"They blocked them all?!" Kurama was shocked and began charging yet another bomb.
But Deidara wasn't about to give it the chance.
A muffled explosion came from inside the Meat Mountain. It wasn't a volcanic eruption—it was a smaller blast that created vents along its surface.
The explosion propelled the Meat Mountain toward Kurama like a massive thruster.
"This isn't good! Kurama, retreat!" Minato shouted.
"Can't you teleport us?"
"I just used it—we need more time!"
The Meat Mountain leapt one final time, casting a shadow over the battlefield like a descending apocalypse.
Deidara held two fingers to his chest, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"Thanks for the spectacular fight, Minato."
"Art is an explosion!"
Boom!
On the plains, another sun rose.
