Chapter 116: Danzo Falls

The eight Root shinobi were no match for Orochimaru and couldn't hold him off for long. On the other side, Danzo was growing increasingly desperate in his battle against Kakashi.

But desperation was meaningless. His strength was only so much.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere!" Danzo unleashed a massive air bullet from his mouth. If it hit directly, it would reduce the target to nothing but fragments.

However, at their level, what use was a technique like this?

"Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!" The familiar dog-headed barrier rose, completely blocking the air bullet. Using this moment, with Danzo's vision obstructed, Kakashi swiftly created a shadow clone.

His real body hid in the shadows while the clone rushed at Danzo, posing as the original.

"Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire!" Shuriken coated in flames shot forward, carrying additional burning damage to strike the enemy effectively.

At first glance, it seemed like a simple technique, but the gap in execution was vast. It was a test of one's skill in throwing ninja tools.

A regular shinobi throwing them plainly was entirely different from an Uchiha expert launching them at an impossible angle.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Danzo countered with his own shuriken, but his skill was slightly inferior to Kakashi's. One slipped through his defense and embedded itself in his abdomen.

"Ugh!" Danzo grunted in pain. He yanked the shuriken out, pressing a hand to his wound.

"Kakashi, do you truly intend to betray Konoha?" Danzo attempted to manipulate him with words.

"Hah! Danzo, weren't you the one who sold me out?" Kakashi sneered, his Sharingan glowing an even deeper crimson from rage.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave!" A blade of compressed air shot from Danzo's mouth toward the rapidly approaching Kakashi. But for someone of Kakashi's caliber, evading it with a simple Body Flicker was effortless.

Shhk!

A kunai stabbed into flesh. Kakashi's shadow clone blinked in mild surprise at the sight of Danzo in front of him. He hadn't even needed his real body to land the finishing blow.

Wasn't this man supposed to be a Hokage candidate? How was his combat ability this weak?

However, Danzo only smiled faintly. In the next instant, his body flickered and reappeared at the upper level of the hall—where he had first dodged the White Clay Snake.

"Kakashi, don't waste your energy."

"You can't defeat me." Danzo stood there, speaking with a false air of mystery.

"Impossible! Is this a genjutsu?!" Kakashi frowned. He had confirmed that he had stabbed Danzo's heart just now.

But Danzo had no intention of giving him time to think.

He formed seals once again, his old hands moving at a speed fitting his age, before launching another wind jutsu.

"Wind Release: Continuous Vacuum Waves!" This time, he abandoned conservation and poured his chakra into the attack. After all, Izanagi was already in effect—any losses now would simply be restored.

With relentless attacks pouring toward him, Kakashi found himself in a difficult situation.

Technically speaking, he was at best pseudo-Kage level. He was stronger than the incompetent Danzo but not by a crushing margin. Now that Danzo had activated his cheat ability, it was normal for Kakashi to struggle.

Boom!

One of the wind blades struck Kakashi's shadow clone, dispersing it into smoke. Danzo's heart clenched for a moment, but before he could react, the sound of chirping lightning echoed.

Another death. Another revival.

"Kakashi, I told you—it's useless." Danzo looked at the slightly fatigued Kakashi, reappearing once again in his starting position, feigning deep composure.

"No way!" Kakashi's expression darkened. Was this man truly invincible?

Zzzt! Zzzt!

Another Chidori pierced through Danzo's heart.

Again, he resurrected at his previous spot, smirking at Kakashi.

"How about it? Submit to me."

But before he could bask in his own arrogance for three seconds, Orochimaru's kunai plunged straight into his heart.

"Izanagi—the ultimate dojutsu of the Uchiha clan. It can turn any injury, even death, into an illusion, while making one's attacks and advantages reality. It freely manipulates the boundary between illusion and reality, casting the ultimate genjutsu on oneself."

"But it comes at a cost—one Sharingan per use." Deidara approached leisurely, reciting Izanagi's details as he walked.

"How do you know about this?!" Danzo, upon reviving once again, completely lost his composure. His trump card had been fully exposed—how could he continue like this?

"Danzo, are you senile? Itachi is one of us. Of course, we know all about the Sharingan's secrets." Deidara smirked mockingly.

"To make it worse for you, Kakashi was just acting earlier."

"How was his performance? Not bad, right?"

Kakashi's earlier shock faded, replaced by a cold smirk. Watching Danzo suffer was his greatest satisfaction.

"Kakashi, you—!" Danzo coughed up a mouthful of blood. He had hoped to use Izanagi's mystery to intimidate them.

Turns out, he had been the fool.

"Danzo, don't tell me you're about to die from sheer anger?" Deidara asked with faux concern.

"Shut up! You damned traitors!"

"Do you think I'll just let you kill me?!" Danzo roared in defiance—only for Kakashi's foot to crush his chest, pinning him down.

"Kotoamatsukami requires direct eye contact. You lost your chance the moment Orochimaru misled you," Deidara stated casually.

From the start, Orochimaru had simply been pretending to be prepared. There was no real way to defend against Kotoamatsukami.

But Danzo hesitated for a moment—and in that instant, he lost his opportunity forever.

"Damn you! You vile traitors!"

Revive.

"I will kill you all—!"

Revive.

"Honestly, we could just remove the Sharingan from your arm, and you'd lose your revivals."

"But it's more satisfying to kill you a few extra times."

Revive.

Revive.

"Stop! I am the Fifth Hokage of Konoha! I am the Root that protects the village!"

"I will fight you to the end!"

Danzo reached for his seal, planning to take them down with him, but was promptly and mercilessly killed again.

Revive.

Revive.

Revive.

"Danzo, do you regret it?"

"Everything I did was for Konoha!"

Deidara scoffed. "You keep saying that, but the truth is, you only sought power for yourself. You used Konoha as a tool to fulfill your own ambitions."

"Unlike the Hokage before you, who truly loved the village and its people."

"Shimura Danzo, you are nothing but Konoha's disgrace. I have no interest in listening to your self-deception."

"No! You can't kill me!"

With the last of his Sharingan expended—Danzo fell, once and for all.
