Upon leaving the room, Kael rushed down to one of the many chambers in the castle, another room delegated to him alone, where no one else I allowed without his permission.
"I brought you a fine maiden sir," The guard at the door declared, his voice steady and his gaze fix on the marble floor. He had done what Kael ordered, to bring a fine maiden to the castle with whom he would lie with.
It was an odd request, considering that Kael wasn't particularly fond of women, but an order is an order.
"A fine maiden indeed," Kael muttered without a hint of emotion as he opened the door.
He leaned against the doorframe of the room, his arms folded and his expression unreadable, while woman sitting on the bed blinked in confusion. She had done everything right, wore the silk dress they gave her, bathed in perfume from the realm's rarest flowers, and smiled as sweetly as she could. But none of it worked because Kael didn't even look interested.
