Chapter 578: The battle that shouldn't have happened

The threat posed by Madara left Hashirama feeling utterly helpless.

"If Madara, with his utter disregard for everything, starts a fight here," Hashirama thought, "then the entire Konoha Village will be in serious trouble."

Hashirama sighed, "Let's go!"

Naruto started to protest, wanting to stop him, but Hashirama cut him off, "Leave this to me! If I can't completely convince him, he won't offer his help, and he'll become a major problem."

Naruto knew all too well just how troublesome Madara could be.

If it hadn't been for Sasuke back then, Madara would likely have succeeded with his plans.

Outside Konoha Village, about a thousand meters into the forest, on the opposite bank of a river, Madara waited quietly.

Hashirama arrived soon after.

Naruto, Sasuke, and a large contingent of Konoha ninjas quickly followed.

"The First Hokage and Uchiha Madara!"

"The two legendary ninjas... are we actually witnessing their battle with our own eyes?"

The new generation of Konoha ninjas couldn't believe they were seeing something straight out of the history books.

"The First Hokage, who brought peace to a chaotic world, possesses the unique Wood Release Kekkei Genkai!"

"He's known as the God of Shinobi!"

"Compared to the First Hokage, Uchiha Madara is said to be slightly inferior!"

Inferior?

Madara's strength was undeniable. In the history books, Hashirama Senju had won, but this time, things might not go the same way.

Sasuke didn't believe history would necessarily repeat itself.

"Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!"

Madara launched his attack without any preamble.

A single move from a master speaks volumes about their skill.

Just this one Fire Style technique silenced the Konoha ninjas.

This was far beyond a simple Fire Style ninjutsu.

Madara's hand seal speed and the resulting ninjutsu were both terrifying.

Flames erupted, instantly vaporizing a large portion of the river, a truly frightening sight.

The initial burst then transformed into a raging river of fire, surging towards the Konoha ninjas.

Many of the ninjas were paralyzed with fear.

But Hashirama, standing firm in front of them, swiftly brought his hands together.

"Wood Style: Deep Forest Emergence!"

Ferocious Wood Release vines erupted from the ground, forming a dense wall at an incredible speed, forcefully intercepting the fiery onslaught.

The Konoha ninjas were stunned.

Ninjutsu... could reach this level?

What kind of power was this?

Their previous experiences with ninjutsu paled in comparison to this massive collision.

This was in a completely different league!

As the flames subsided, before the ninjas could even catch their breath, Madara's figure shot out from the thick smoke.

He moved instantly towards Hashirama, engaging him in close combat.

The rapid exchanges and the powerful impacts of their taijutsu left even ninjas who specialized in close combat speechless.

"Is this how ninja battles used to be fought?"

It was completely different from modern ninja warfare!

The previous battle between Naruto, Sasuke, and the Otsutsuki had been incomprehensible, like witnessing gods in combat.

The Konoha ninjas had been shocked and amazed, but because it was so far removed from their own experiences, it felt like another dimension, something beyond their comprehension.

They were impressed, but didn't truly grasp its significance.

However, the battle unfolding before them between Hashirama and Madara demonstrated the true potential and limits of ninjas.

Watching the dazzling taijutsu display, they saw the river half-evaporated by the flames and then nearly completely cleaved apart by the force of their close-quarters combat.

Large and small craters appeared almost instantaneously.

"As expected of the battle between the First Hokage and the legendary ninja Uchiha Madara!"

The battle raged on.

Naruto was growing concerned. If they continued fighting like this, the area would take over a decade to recover.

The damage to the local ecosystem was already severe.

Sasuke, sensing Naruto's worry, said, "Don't worry, once those two have vented their frustrations, I'll take care of it."

Naruto was taken aback. Could Sasuke really restore this kind of destruction?

That was a joke. The area was already devastated; even Sasuke probably couldn't...

At that moment, the new Team 7, who had secretly slipped out of Konoha, quietly arrived on the opposite side.

They watched the intense battle unfold before them, the terrifying sounds echoing through the forest.

Mitsuki exclaimed, "What an intense battle! As expected of the God of Shinobi and the legendary ninja!"

"Uchiha Madara... he can actually fight the First Hokage to this extent!"

Boruto turned to Sarada, "Are all the members of your Uchiha clan monsters?"

He thought about it carefully.

Whether it was Sarada's father, Itachi, her uncle Sasuke, or the Uchiha Madara before them now, they were all unbelievably powerful.

Were there no weak members in the Uchiha clan?

Each one was incredibly strong.

And those Sharingan eyes, while possessing immense power, were also incredibly cool.

Boruto suddenly wished he could trade places with Sarada, just so he could be a member of the Uchiha clan.

Being an Uchiha would mean having the cool Sharingan and incredible power.

"Hashirama, if this is all you've got, you can't defeat me!"

"Susanoo!"

Madara instantly activated his Susanoo, and the complete form of the blue Susanoo materialized. The terrifying figure rising from the ground sent shivers down the spines of all the ninjas.

Only by witnessing it up close could they truly comprehend the sheer terror of the Susanoo.

This overwhelming sense of pressure couldn't be conveyed through a screen.

Hashirama felt a surge of helplessness. Did it really have to come to this?

"No choice," he thought, activating Sage Mode.

He clasped his hands together.

"Wood Style! Wood Human Technique!"

The giant wooden figure that appeared instantly matched the Susanoo in height.

"The same technique as Dad!"

Boruto was surprised. "Could this be the Kekkei Genkai of the Uzumaki clan?"

"No!"

Mitsuki immediately corrected him. "Wood Release is a Kekkei Genkai unique to the First Hokage; it doesn't actually belong to the Uzumaki clan."

"And the reason Naruto-sensei possesses the Wood Release Kekkei Genkai is largely due to Uchiha Sasuke!"

"I don't know the specifics, but that's what I've heard."

The Susanoo and the Wood Human clashed in a brutal fistfight.

The deafening sound of their collision made everyone's eardrums ring.

Madara, controlling the Susanoo, began to prepare a powerful attack.

Yasaka Magatama.

At that moment, Sasuke, who hadn't been paying particular attention, suddenly saw a new task appear before him.

"This isn't good, Sasuke!" Naruto exclaimed, "If we let them continue like this, not only will this area be completely destroyed, but it's too close to Konoha! Even the village could be affected by the shockwaves..."

Just as Naruto was speaking, Sasuke made his move.
