Everyone present could clearly hear and feel the resolute determination in Gon's words.
"That's the profession Ging longed for, the one that kept him wandering outside for decades without ever returning home!" Gon declared, word by word, "I want to know what kind of profession it is that fascinates him so much!!"
"I must become a Hunter!"
"After becoming a Hunter, I will stand before him with pride and meet him!!"
"Gon…"
After hearing Gon's words, Leorio and Kurapika looked at him as if he were their own son. Hmm, this family of three looks so cheerful, doesn't it?
"That brat?" Ging remarked expressionlessly in the virtual network space. Beside him, Ickshonpe raised a cardboard sign appropriately: "If you want to laugh, just laugh."
"I'm not happy!!" Ging retorted.
"I never said you were happy."
"Hmph!!" Ging snorted arrogantly at Issac. "Isn't it natural for my son to be outstanding?"
"So, does his answer suit your taste? Are you satisfied now?"
"More or less." Ging started to humbly boast again, his smug demeanor making Issac want to punch him twice.
"Is that so? I understand your response." Morin wasn't surprised by Gon's choice. In fact, Gon, when facing choices now, was quite similar to Hanamichi Sakuragi.
Initially, Sakuragi chose basketball just to meet Haruko Akagi's expectations and to get closer to her. Even later, when the Judo club captain tried to tempt Sakuragi with Haruko's photo, he still chose the basketball career he loved. Gon is the same now.
Knowing Gon's character, Morin also knew there was a high probability he would make such a choice. Therefore, he had already prepared a backup plan.
"Since you've decided to walk this path, I won't hold back." Morin clapped his hands, "I mentioned before I am a Tool Specialist."
"So, it's time to show you how many useful tools I have." He smiled, pulling out numerous items from his Dimensional Treasure Bag.
"This is the [Rank Badge]???" Morin pointed at the badges in his hand, each marked with one to five stars. "This tool works like military ranks, with strict hierarchy; subordinates must absolutely obey superiors.
So, as long as someone is tagged with a subordinate badge, they will unconditionally obey those with a superior badge, even if they are unwilling to surrender."
Hmm, Nobita once tagged himself with a high-ranking officer badge and gave subordinate badges to Gian and the others to command them.
The result was Gian and the others got so exhausted running laps under Nobita's orders that they were steaming with heat.
Once they removed their clothes and the badges fell off, they regained their freedom, and Nobita was in for a beating.
Besides that, Morin took out another new item: "This is the [Human Activity Puppet]. As a machine that can control people, once installed on someone, you can command them to do anything, even while asleep. It has different buttons like ballet, marathon, wrestling, back massage, etc., but the downside is it's not easy to control and might exceed expected actions."
Nobita, wanting to lighten his mom's burden, had Doraemon install the [Human Activity Puppet] on his dad, but the out-of-control Nobita's dad almost caused trouble by pressing different buttons.
"Another one is the [Human Remote Control]. As long as you insert the antenna into someone, you can control them like a remote-controlled car while retaining their consciousness. Want to try it?"
"And this, the combination of [Hypnosis Gas], [Dream Bell], and [Sleepwalking Stick], first hypnotizes you to sleep, then makes you sleepwalk to listen to the quality department."
"This one's nice too, the [Obedience Hat]. You can tell what it does just by its name."
---
"[Reversal Flute], its sound waves alter neural activity, making people do the exact opposite of what they're thinking.
Anyone holding it can play a specific tune, and anyone or animal hearing it, except the player, will be forced to do the opposite of what they were originally doing.
While it's mostly used for pranks, it's quite suitable for dealing with troublemakers here."
"You might also want to try this, [Emotion Control Gun], to manage your emotions a bit."
"[Personality Reversal Pill], wouldn't it be interesting to change your stubborn and unyielding personality, Gon?"
"[Friendship Tag], just stick this heart-shaped emblem on someone, and with a press of a button, they'll see you as their best friend and follow your commands."
"[Friendship Zone], two people standing inside become great friends. For details, refer to the previous [Friendship Tag]."
"And there are these, like the [Love Umbrella] that makes people underneath fall in love, and the [Love Shack] where whoever enters first will inevitably fall for the next person who comes in... Hmm, let's scratch these two."
After putting away those unreliable tools, Morin looked at Gon, whose face was gradually turning pale with fear.
"Alright, with all these tools available, which one will you choose next?"
"Or perhaps?" Morin grinned like a mischievous uncle trying to lure a child, "Do you plan to try them all?"
Gon: "..."
Leorio: "..."
Kurapika: "..."
Killua: "..."
Other examinees: "..."
Other examiners and judges: "..."
Netero: "Hohoho!!"
"That Morin guy..." Ging's eyelid twitched again in front of the big screen. "Is this what they call not bullying the juniors?!"
Seeing Morin's stance, those in the know realized he was trying to make Gon surrender. Those who didn't might think he was about to illegally manipulate Gon.
"But with so many mind-controlling tools..." Ging rubbed his chin, his eyes flickering, pondering something.
"You better stop those dirty thoughts of yours." Issac silently raised his sign.
"Hey, what do you mean dirty thoughts? My thoughts are perfectly legitimate!"
"Hehehe..."
Not mentioning the banter in the virtual network space, back at the main venue of the Hunter Exam:
"Alright, Gon, which one do you plan to choose?" After introducing all these tools, Morin kindly left the choice to Gon.
Gon: Can I choose none of them?!
He was genuinely startled by the array of tools Morin had displayed.
"To think there are so many mind-controlling tools..." Gon swallowed nervously.
Not just him, the other examinees felt sincerely relieved. Relieved they hadn't encountered Morin.
Tonpa's face, however, grew even more despondent. Regardless of the outcome of this round of tests, he knew he would face Morin after the exam concluded.
The other examiners also cast sidelong glances at Morin, surprised by the number of control tools he had produced.
"Tools that rival Manipulation Nen abilities, even simpler to use, accessible to ordinary people."
Several of them remained silent. They understood better than the examinees present what it meant for Morin to bring out these tools.
Even Hisoka, for once, put away his playing cards, resting his chin on his hand, deep in thought.
"What's up? Have a new insight?" Illumi asked quietly beside him.
"I just suddenly lost interest in him." Hisoka honestly shared his most straightforward feeling.
"Not entirely uninterested, I still want to fight him, but just thinking about facing so many disgusting tools..."
Hisoka's teardrop-marked face rarely showed a hint of disinterest: "I lose all appetite."
Indeed, with so many mind-controlling tools, it's impossible to guard against them.
Hisoka could almost foresee that if he were to face Morin, it wouldn't take long before he got tagged by one of those control tools.
