Chapter 245

Although the Hunter Association doesn't care about the attributes of those taking the Hunter Exam, nor does it prioritize background checks, even demons can become hunters.

Hisoka, Illumi, and Shalnark are prime examples of this, having obtained their Hunter Licenses. But Morin is different.

He is one of the world's top fighters, personally acknowledged by Chairman Netero as one of the "Top Five Nen Users in the World." While Hisoka and the others are indeed villains, their malevolence doesn't typically escalate to a global scale. Morin, however, is not like them.

With so many tools at his disposal, he poses a significant threat to global security. If, hypothetically, a conflict arose between Morin and the V5, and Morin were provoked...

A barrage of tools could be unleashed, potentially throwing the world into chaos. A group of people silently considered this possibility. In terms of difficulty, having Morin join the Hunter Association is akin to holding a hot potato.

Previously, as a lone wolf, Morin and the Hunter Association coexisted peacefully. But once he became a hunter and associated with the Hunter Association, things got more complicated. It undeniably strengthens the Hunter Association's power, but the underlying risks are also noteworthy.

Therefore, as soon as Morin became a hunter, the Hunter Association arranged for personnel to monitor his next move. The reports they received were quite unexpected.

Morin was teaching Nen to Tonpa. Indeed, in this world, Morin had become quite the mentor. First, it was Machi, Uvogin, and Nobunaga, then Kastro, Baise, and now it's Tonpa.

It's worth noting that those whom Morin mentors are individuals with potential worth nurturing. Machi and the others are self-explanatory, Kastro is now a high-ranking member of the Hunter Association and a top-tier fighter. Baise developed a Nen ability extremely beneficial to Morin, and as for Tonpa...

His ability to evade danger, demonstrated by his 35 successful exits from the Hunter Exam, is what Morin values. Tonpa has a talent for risk aversion. If developed into a Nen ability, this could be invaluable on the Dark Continent.

While Morin possesses many alertness-related tools, having a human danger detector like Tonpa would be even more effective. So, during this period, Morin didn't involve himself in other matters. Instead, he focused on teaching Tonpa about Nen, harboring certain expectations.

Time passed like this. Others in the world were busy with their own affairs, while Morin enjoyed a rare period of tranquility.

Meanwhile, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio arrived at Kukuroo Mountain in the Republic of Padokea. They spent over a month successfully opening the gates to the Zoldyck family estate.

"The son of Ging Freecss, huh?" In the main room of the Zoldyck family, Zeno put down his golden dragon horn cup and glanced at Silva.

"I've met that man. He's quite formidable." During the selection of the "Top Five Nen Users in the World," Zeno had encountered Ging. He was a man difficult to fathom.

In the final round of the test, it became known to those present that Gon was Ging's son. Upon learning this, Illumi relayed the information back to the family.

Because Gon was Ging's son, Illumi refrained from killing Gon and his friends on his own accord. Instead, they waited for Gon and his companions to arrive, leaving the decision to his father and grandfather.

After all, Gon is a second-generation hunter, with Ging, one of the "Top Five Nen Users in the World," behind him. Any misstep could spell trouble for the Zoldyck family.

"Someone of such status is qualified to be Killua's friend," Zeno said calmly. Mainly because they couldn't kill him. If they could, Killua wouldn't have friends.

"Killua is destined to return to the darkness. Letting him out for a short time, especially with someone like that, isn't necessarily a bad thing."

Zeno quickly made the final decision on the matter. So, while it appeared that Gon used genuine actions and emotions to take Killua away, his father also played a significant role.

Subsequently, Gon and his companions successfully passed the tests set by Gotoh and the other butlers, bringing Killua out. At this point, Killua had already returned to normal.

Moreover, Gon and his friends were exceptionally happy about their arrival. After leaving Kukuroo Mountain, the four of them each went their separate ways.

Kurapika planned to find a job that would help uncover the truth behind the massacre of his clan and retrieve the Scarlet Eyes. Gon contemplated but ultimately decided not to tell Kurapika about Morin being a member of the Phantom Troupe for the time being.

Leorio intended to use his Hunter License to attend a prestigious medical university for free and become a doctor. Gon and Killua, on the other hand, aimed to head to Heaven's Arena to earn money and hone their skills.

They agreed to reunite in September in Yorknew City, where the grand auction, potentially featuring the Scarlet Eyes, would take place. This was the first time the four parted ways.

After Kurapika and Leorio left, Gon and Killua set off for Heaven's Arena. Everything seemed unchanged, yet everything felt different.

At Heaven's Arena, Wing, always dressed in a white shirt with one corner tucked into his pants, awaited their arrival.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, several months passed. During this period, many events unfolded. On their first day at Heaven's Arena, Gon and Killua reached the 50th floor.

By the third day, they achieved six consecutive victories, advancing directly to the 100th floor. Then, upon reaching the 200th floor, they once again encountered a familiar face they couldn't forget—Hisoka.

Under the influence of Hisoka's malicious aura, the two retreated. After learning Nen from Wing, they successfully registered and stepped into the world of Nen users.

During this time, Kurapika found the organization known as the Nostrade Family, which specialized in providing jobs. However, lacking any knowledge of Nen, he was initially rejected. Later, in the jungle, he met his Nen teacher, Izunavi.

Izunavi was a teacher who profoundly impacted Kurapika, teaching him about restrictions and vows and greatly aiding in the development of his Nen abilities.

Furthermore, when the Kakin Empire planned to voyage to the Dark Continent, Izunavi was invited by Kurapika to become a bodyguard for the princes, hoping to find the eyes of his clan members.

In the following time, Kurapika learned about Nen from Izunavi and entered the world of Nen. Additionally, he learned from Izunavi about the true circumstances surrounding the Kurta Clan massacre.

"Are you saying the Kurta Clan wasn't exterminated by the Phantom Troupe?" Kurapika, upon hearing this possibility, stared intently into Izunavi's eyes. To him, whether it was the V5 or the Phantom Troupe, hearing either name wouldn't surprise him.

"That's right," Izunavi said, exhaling a smoke ring from his pipe. "The incident was so significant back then that even I heard about it."

The truth Kurapika learned was indeed shocking. At that time, due to Morin's propaganda robot, the heinous event couldn't be concealed. Even Gon, living in the secluded Whale Island, and Leorio, from the lowest rungs of society, had heard of it. This demonstrated the massive impact and reach of the incident.

Kurapika, being an exceptionally rational person, wasn't swayed by the propaganda robot, which would have led him to directly blame the V5 as the culprits. Given the tragic fate of his clan, he couldn't afford any carelessness.

In the mainstream narrative of this world, it was believed that the V5 committed the massacre.

However, over the years, with the influence of numerous Nen users under the V5, the memory of the Kurta Clan gradually faded from public consciousness. They shifted their research to the shadows, leaving no evidence on the surface.

Yet, every action leaves a trace. The Kurta Clan's mountain was once soaked in blood. Even if the V5 meticulously handled the aftermath, many clues and traces couldn't be entirely hidden.

"The master who taught me Nen is a detective hunter known as 'Big Beard' Smorv," Izunavi said, his tone leisurely as he smoked by the campfire. "When it came to determining whether the V5 or the Phantom Troupe was the true culprit, he personally went to the Kurta mountains to investigate."

"Although the area was sealed off by the V5, prohibiting entry, for a detective hunter, these were minor obstacles. My master, through various clues and evidence, eventually identified the true culprit."
