Chapter 8: New Neighbor, the Plan Succeeds

Early next morning!

"Ding dong!"

The doorbell of William Li's house rang.

"Coming!"

After Mary agreed, she came to the door and opened it.

What caught her eye was a woman and a little girl.

The woman had brown hair and a delicate appearance. She was wearing jeans and a gray top. She had a faint smile on her face and held a gift box in her hand.

The little girl she was holding next to her was wearing a white skirt, black boat shoes, and white stockings. She had fair skin, brown hair that was thick and disheveled, and under the hair, a pair of bright brown eyes sparkled.

"You are?!"

Looking at the two of them, Mary couldn't help but frown.

She could definitely confirm that she did not know these two people!

The woman smiled and replied, "We are the new neighbors who have moved next door. This is a small gesture!"

With that said, she handed the gift box in her hand to Mary.

"Oh!"

Mary suddenly realized that they were new neighbors!

Immediately!

She took the gift box and said politely, "Nice to meet you!"

After a pause, she asked curiously, "By the way, I haven't asked yet—what's your name?"

"My name is Monica Granger; you can also call me Mrs. Granger!"

After Mrs. Granger answered with a smile, she pulled the little girl closer and said, "This is my daughter, Hermione Granger!"

"Hello, ma'am!"

Hermione also said hello, timely and politely.

"Hello, little Hermione!"

After Mary responded with a smile, she introduced herself and said, "My name is Mary Taylor. You can call me Mrs. Li. That over there is my son, William Li!"

As she spoke, she waved to William Li, who was sitting in the living room reading a book, and said, "Baby, come here and say hello to your new neighbor!"

And at this time!

William Li was already confused!

Completely confused!

If no one else knew the name Hermione Granger, how could he not know it?

Isn't this the heroine in Harry Potter?

However, after being confused for a while, what followed was inner ecstasy.

In addition to being a person with extraordinary ability, the acquisition of internal value was also affected by his combat power and luck.

Hermione was definitely not capable of fighting now, but as a heroine, it went without saying that she must have a lot of luck.

What did this mean?

It meant that William Li could get a lot of internal value from her!

It's true—when people sit at home, blessings come from heaven!

Thinking this, he suppressed the ecstasy in his heart, stood up calmly on the surface, came to Hermione and her mother, and politely said to Mrs. Granger, "Hello, Auntie!"

After a pause, he said to Hermione again, "Hello!"

"Okay!" Mrs. Granger said with a smile.

"Hello!" Hermione responded politely.

At this time!

"Your child looks about the same age as my Hermione. How old is he?" Mrs. Granger asked again, curiously.

Women who have children often like to talk about their children.

Mrs. Granger was no exception!

And this time, it happened to align with Mary's thoughts.

"He's six years old this year!"

After she answered with a smile, she asked curiously, "What about your child?"

"Six years old too!" said Mrs. Granger.

"What a coincidence?"

"Yeah, what a coincidence!"

"Then where does your child study?"

"She used to be at Ward Elementary School, but since we've moved recently, we're planning to transfer her to the nearby Greene School!"

"Greene School? What a coincidence! My child studies there and is in second grade this year!"

"Really? How are your child's grades usually?"

"Just average—he's number one in the school!"

"Number one in the school? That's amazing! My daughter was number one at Ward Elementary, but I've heard that Greene School has a more intense curriculum and better overall results. I wonder if her grades will drop after transferring there!"

As the two chatted, they unconsciously began discussing their children's schooling and learning issues.

And listening to the chat between the two, especially when she heard that William Li was number one at Greene School, Hermione's eyes flashed with interest.

She looked at William Li with narrowed eyes and said, "Are you the number one student at Greene School?"

"Yeah, what's wrong?" William Li asked.

In Britain, children typically enter school at the age of five.

He was six years old and in second grade.

As for being number one in the school?

Joke!

He was a college graduate. If he wasn't number one even in second grade, he might as well give up!

"When school starts next week, I will be number one in the school!" Hermione said calmly, as though stating a fact.

As soon as these words came out!

William Li instinctively wanted to laugh, then dismiss it.

After all, he had no intention of competing with a six-year-old girl.

But suddenly, an idea flashed in his mind, and he thought of something else.

Perhaps he could use this opportunity to increase Hermione's internal value!

Thinking this, he chuckled twice and said lightly, "Your joke is really funny!"

"After school starts and the exams happen, I'll show you I'm not joking!" Hermione said seriously, not angry.

"School starts!?"

After William Li sneered, he said, "You don't have to wait for school to start to show me!"

"What do you mean?" Hermione asked, confused.

"It's very simple!"

William Li said seriously, "Let's find a place now and give each other questions to solve. Then we'll know who has better grades!"

After a pause, he added in a provocative tone, "You're not afraid, are you?"

"What is there to be afraid of? Let's do it now—find a place and compete!" Hermione agreed without hesitation.

"Don't go anywhere else—just come to my house, my room!" William Li sneered.

"Okay!"

Hermione also agreed decisively!

After that!

"Mom, I'm taking her to my room!" William said to Mary.

"Mom, I'm going to his room!" Hermione also said to her mother.

"Go, go!"

Mary and Mrs. Granger looked at each other and replied with a smile at the same time.

The words just now naturally fell into the ears of Mary and Mrs. Granger.

Regarding this!

The two didn't have any intention to stop it, and they were even a little happy to see it happen.

As parents, if their children were better than others at something like watching cartoons or playing games, they might not care much, but which parent wouldn't be proud to compare grades?

After getting their mothers' consent, William said directly, "Come on, follow me!"

As he spoke, he led the way to his room on the second floor.

Seeing this, Hermione followed without hesitation.

But when Hermione wasn't looking, the moment William went upstairs, a subtle light of success flashed in his eyes.
