It Got Darker

Seoyeop, stunned, found himself unable to take his eyes off her face.

His mind froze as he struggled to comprehend her words, only regaining his senses moments later.

Quickly, he sheathed his sword and bowed his head.

“Your Majesty, what brings you here...?”

Jin Ye gestured to the attendants who had accompanied her, dismissing them with a gentle wave, and closed the library door.

She moved leisurely through the shelves, making her way toward Seoyeop.

Jin Ye cast a brief glance at the confidant standing before Seoyeop, then approached the desk where he had been sitting and picked up the book.

Uninterested in the contents, Jin Ye merely glanced at the title, curious about Seoyeop’s choice of book.

Meeting Seoyeop’s questioning gaze, she answered with quiet ease.

“I heard voices as I was passing by, so I thought I’d look in. After all, this is where you often spend the night.”

Seoyeop made no reply.

Or rather, words eluded him.

His heart beat a little faster.
