Shattered

Beep... beep... beep....

Heesoo stared blankly at the screen as the call ended.

How could someone just hang up like that without even listening?

She bristled—but the battery was dying fast.

She didn’t have much time left.

‘Forget calling. Just message someone. Tell them I ended up somewhere strange—ask them to contact the Korean embassy. Maybe then... they’ll tell my family.’

She gripped the phone tight and typed like her life depended on it.

The battery icon blinked, barely holding on.

‘Please,’ she thought. ‘If even one person gets this and contacts the embassy....’

She was too focused to notice the door open—or the man quietly stepping inside.

It was Calix.

[I got sucked into some kind of black hole in the sky and ended up in a place I don’t recognize. I have no idea where I am, and I don’t think I can ever go back. But I’m alive, and I’m trying to survive here somehow.]

She added her passport number and identifying details at the end.
