Derek's P.O.V.
First thing I did was hop on my bike. Wanted my mind to be clear before I go actin' like Cooyon. I sped up going down the road. Fuckin' hated traffic.
Quais, people slammed down on them noisy horns they got, but I doan care. I keep goin'. Taste rubber Cooyons. Then I heard it. I slow looked around. Tires screechin'? Then I smell rubber. I knew that sound all too well.
My eyes catch sight of a white Porsche. Decent car if I liked em. I was more of a bike guy. My eyes narrowed as I saw it was being chased. I shook my head. Doan know em, not my concern. You stay out that Derek. I had seen how they ain't slowing for traffic. Ah shit! I sped up and crossed in front of a car, so they slowed, and the white Porsche flew right into traffic. Who in this town knows how to drive like that? My eyes went wide as I saw it. No. Fucking. Way.
It's her. Fuckin' hell! I growled lowly as I saw three bikes following close at her tail. Chills shot up my spine. What did she get herself into? The hell are they doin' here... in this town of all towns. I almost crashed my bike but corrected myself. Outta sight, outta mind...right? Doan let em' see you. Pa worked hard to get us here. Worked hard to fix my errors. I gritted my teeth, but Aria... Derek, doan you go and fuck this all up. I cursed. Pa raised me not to let a fille be in danger.
Just as I sped up ready to give up my position, Aria's engine revved and she swerved to the guys on the bikes. The swerved as she flew close to em. Shit! She's tryna' lose em! I grinned. That's a fille! She scared the guy on the right, so he moved to the right side and flew off the road. I nodded in approval. Show em all fille. Make your mark. There was a road coming up. One-way street. Come on fille. You got this.
Relief flooded me when she hit the gas and got in front of the two bikers. They had no choice but to fall in line behind her. I slowed my speed, so that the cars behind me slowed giving the fille her space. I knew what was coming. A wicked grin covered my face as her brake lights flashed brightly and I heard her tires screeching. The guys slammed into the back of her car and I winced at the impact.
That had to hurt. My worry was how is the fille? I passed the double yellow line, not givin' a rat's ass about the oncomin' cars and I passed the white BMW just in time to see the two girls high fivin'' each other. I shook my head. Brave fille. I gave my bike gas and sped in front of the girls passing them. Couldn't help but grin as I heard her horn blare. Now to go to that party full of Cooyons…
I parked my bike out back so the purr of the engine doan disturb anyone. I scoffed. Damn city folk can't stand the sound. I walked the rest of the way. Just stepped a foot onto the grass, and I already hated it here. Hell, even the yard didn't have a patch of grass missing from it. Music choice is high class, quias, high class guaranteed. Soft fancy bullshit. People standed here and there convosatin'. They sip from some tall thin glass full of champaign probably. That's what rich folk liked, non?
I found my pa at a food table. They had everything here. Fresh fruit, platters of vegetables. The meat part of the line was even more good lookin'. They had whole hams, turkeys, hell even a whole pig with an apple stuffed in its mouth. Each line of food was placed on a silver platter. I scoffed. Cooyons. I'm one for comin' here.
"Ah Derek! You came my son!" My pa said.
I see him behind the food. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I growled lowly. He looked like some kinda server! I growled more. I couldn't help but take the serving spoon from him. I looked at the food my pa brought, and it looks like only one or two people tried it.
"Pa, I got this. Why doan you go and um... mingle?" I forced my mouth to say.
His eyes lit up and he nodded. A sigh escaped my lips as I watched him go around for a few minutes until he got lost in the crowd of folk. I rolled my eyes and put the spoon down in the casserole. Self-serve tonight you ungrateful assholes. I got out from behind the table and a few stare at me. I buck at them and they shrink back in horror. I rolled my eyes. No doubt they was wondering who I was. Some openly pointed their manicured nails at me.
Run. I gotta get some air. Can't stand Cooyons like these. I turn tail and carryyself out. Once I'm outside, I took a deep breath. The air was nice and crisp.
Finally, some quiet. My eyes briefly closed and when I opened them I looked up at the roof. My eyes went wide. I see a fille up there, in a dress, and all I see is them with long, white, and smooth legs. My eyes trailed up to her waist where the slit stopped. I looked at the face and my eyes were even wider. The fille from before. Aria. I noticed the tall tree from beside the house. Huh, that's gotta be how she got up there.
She was up there all high and mighty. Girl like her is used to being above everyone, non? I couldn't help but go and grab a low branch before I started my climb. Riko and me use to climb trees back home. Creatures hide well in them swamps believe me. This tree was nothing compared to what I'm used to. Too bad you fucked up and got your home torn away. Once I was up there, she finally saw me.
"Get on out of here!" She said.
Her words sounded...slurred. I knew that sound all too well. I sighed in disapproval. Fille, all alone, drunk. What a number she done on herself, non? I moved a bit closer as I left the tree branches and stood on the roof. Little steps, right?
"Why you up here?" I asked.
"Gosh, your voice is so deep and rough..." She whispered haunghtly.
"Quias, and you got the voice of a siren." I said.
I shake my head. Ain't like she goan to remember this conversation anyway. Aye, I didn't lie to the fille. Voice like hers would make just about any man do anything.
"Fille, you wanna try tellin' ole' Derek why you up on this roof by your lonesome?" I asked her gently, careful not to startle her.
"Oh, for fucks sake just sit beside me. I won't jump..." Her eyes went distant as she said that last part.
I almost believe she woan jump. But what was that other feeling I got when she said those words? What's the story behind them? Hell, what's the story behind those sad eyes of hers.
I nodded and go and sit down beside her. Lil' pekon took after her name with that mouth of hers, non? Thought she was a bit more…tame. Then again after this night when I see her, I doubt she is all goody girl. Ain't no regular fille goan drive like her. How do I bring that up to her?
I heard her move somethin' beside her and I looked over. A white plate. My eyes slightly widened. My pa's food. I shook my head. No way she liked it. It ain't to her taste. Then she looked up at the sky and my thoughts scattered.
Damn. All I could do was stare at her. Her face was snow white, fragile like glass. Each freckle that covered her nose seemed to be perfectly placed.
"You know...I feel like tonight is different for some reason." She whispered to herself.
"Oh? Why's that now?" I asked.
"Well... I actually ate at one of these stupid parties my mother throws." She said.
Shit...she's the rich daughter. Messed up big time Derek! She Doan belong near someone like me. I'll dirty her. But it doan add up. That gives me the question of why was those guys followin' her. I closed my eyes takin' in a breath before I grow the pair to ask this.
"This evenin'... why were them guys at your tail?" I asked.
It wasn't until I saw her eyes widen in fear that I questioned myself if I should have asked her that.
