Chapter Thirty-One

“And how hard was it for you to break through them?” Aiden challenged.

“Not too hard… It only took me a few tries.” I admitted.

"Exactly," Aiden replied, his voice laced with a hint of concern. "If someone as inexperienced as you could break through, imagine what Lucien could do."

I pondered his words. "Those doors were pretty damaged. It seems someone has been there before."

Aiden shrugged. "He probably made it harder than it seemed. You're stronger now, more capable."

I stared at him, unconvinced. "I doubt it."

Aiden smiled, his expression reassuring. "So, what do you want to do? I know you're not tired."

"Tell me about our past lives," I suggested, curious about the countless lifetimes we'd shared.

Aiden hesitated, a flicker of apprehension in his eyes. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.

"Yes, please," I insisted. "It'll help pass the time."

Aiden sighed, resigned. "Alright," he said, settling down beside me.
