I told my parents and brother that I'd be spending a few weeks with Sara, visiting a relative of hers. I assured them I'd be back in time for Will's wedding, whenever that might be. After saying my quick goodbyes to my family, Sara, Easton, Calix, Aiden, and I set off on our journey south. We eventually found a secluded spot in the Georgia wilderness, a perfect hidden haven.
As we sat around the campfire, a tense silence hung in the air. The only sounds were the crackling fire and the distant chirping of crickets. Determined to break the ice, I started a conversation.
"So, Easton," I began, "since we're being honest, where were you in January when we were investigating that abandoned building? You know, the one where you came back with that strange locket?"
