Chapter Forty-Seven

*Aiden’s POV*

I was consumed by a rage so intense, it felt like a wildfire burning within me. Every fiber of my being ached with fury. The memory of my conversation with Ember replayed on a loop, each word a fresh wound. How could Lucien stoop so low? How could he betray Ember's trust in such a heartless manner? And why did she seem so willing to succumb to his deception? My mind raced, a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief.

One thing was certain: if Ember truly intended to be with Lucien, she would have to face me, to confront the pain she would inevitably inflict. She would have to explain the inexplicable, to justify the unjustifiable.

"What if Lucien convinces Ember that they were destined to be together?" Calix's voice, breaking the oppressive silence, sent a shiver down my spine. His words echoed the darkest fears that lurked in the shadows of my mind.

"Then she made her choice." I spat, the bitterness seeping into my voice.
