Chapter 21

NICK POV

Once the security guard passed by without noticing us, I let go of Karliah. There was an awkward silence between the two of us.

I cleared my throat nervously.

"We should get going since they are gone."

Karliah nodded quietly.

"Yes, you're right, but where on earth are we going to go this late?" she asked curiously as we emerged out of the bushes.

"We would have gone to my apartment, but—"

"We can go to my hotel room," I muttered coolly, cutting her off.

Karliah cocked a brow at me.

"Don't worry, I won't try anything funny," I taunted.

I offered her my hand.

"Do you trust me?"

She released a long breath.

"Of course I trust you; it's just—"

"Good, so you trust me. Let's go. I promise that I won't hurt you unless you want me to," I finished in a low voice, causing Karliah to stare at me in shock.

I chuckled lightly.

"Don't worry, I was just kidding. Let's get going; it's already late."
