Chapter 36

KARLIAH POV

Ever since our encounter at the Seven Pools, it seems like Lisa has been trying her best to avoid me at all costs.

To make matters worse, I couldn't even understand what I did wrong in the first place.

At breakfast, when I tried to engage her in conversation, she kept giving me one-word answers; moreover, she kept giving me the cold shoulder.

"Hey, do you want to hang out today?" I asked curiously once both of us left the breakfast table.

"Karliah, I don't have that kind of time to waste. Unlike you, I came here to win."

I was stunned to hear this.

"Maybe you're only here to have fun, but I'm not, Karliah, because becoming queen isn't child's play. I've been preparing for this role my whole life."

"Just because Prince Nicholas has some interest in you doesn't mean that he's going to end up choosing you. I hope you know the difference."

I remained silent.

"I'm sorry, Lisa, I won't ever bother you again."
