Chapter 24 {Conditions}

Isabella's eyes fluttered open as she heard the voice on the other end of the line.

"Emergency?" she mumbled sleepily, sitting up in bed.

"What kind of emergency?"

She ran a hand through her messy hair and tried to shake off the grogginess that still clung to her.

"Hold on please tell me what happened," Isabella said as she sat up straighter in bed she felt so tired she yawned as she closed her eyes.

"Mircale Worker I heard your operation in surgery are top notch you are the most mysterious Mircale Worker, Divine Healer, and we only have you to ask," the other medical doctor said to Isabella.

Isabella opened her eyes and looked at the other medical doctor on the screen. She was used to being referred to as a "miracle worker" or a "divine healer", but it still made her feel somewhat uncomfortable.

"Yes," she said simply.

The other doctor smiled faintly.

"I'm not surprised your patients' survival rate is higher than anyone else. It's like you can just bring people back from the dead."

Isabella was indifferent toward the complaint. She let out a sigh she shook her head as she touched her messy hair and she closed her eyes.

"So let me get this straight you are asking me to an operation? I refuse," Isabella said her voice was firm and blunt.

"Please Dr. Mircale Worker we really need you pleaseeeee," the doctor begged her she felt so tired she closed her eyes her three children were sleeping peacefully in bed.

"No you know my three golden rule please tell me what are they?"

Isabella sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Sorry I don't know them." Dr. Greenwood said.

"First rule: No using my powers for anything personal, also I only do two operations a month," she said.

"Second rule: No revealing my identity to anyone," she continued.

"And third rule: No getting involved in any sort of romantic relationship, or bothering my personal life."

Dr. Greenwood nodded, taking in Isabella's rules.

"I understand your rules," he said quietly.

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"This operation...it's different from anything we've seen before. The patient has been pronounced dead for hours now, but his heart still hasn't stopped beating. We believe this an evil spirit or a demon but no one is able to understand it."

"Why not ask the Shadow Hunters they are over millions no billions of them why me?" Isabella asked coldly she was annoyed.

Isabella let out a sigh. She knew she couldn't refuse this operation - not when someone's life was at stake.

"Fine," she said finally.

"I'll do it on one condition."

Dr. Greenwood listened on his Lexeni phone as he heard what Isabella said.

"No I have two conditions first no one can no about my identity and the last one is I don't want annoying Shadow Hunter Healers or Shadow Hunter messing with my operation," Isabella said her condition were simple it also meant in Isabella eyes these Shadow Hunters weren't worth her time or even care.

Dr. Greenwood agreed to Isabella's conditions and provided her with more information about the case.

"Dr. Mircale Worker this case is rare no one has ever seen this before and we have tried for the past two years and have no one was unable to do anything."

Isabella nodded in understanding as Dr. Greenwood explained the case to her. She could sense the frustration and desperation in his voice - this was clearly a difficult case that had baffled even the most experienced doctors.

"Thank you for providing me with all of this information," she said softly.

"I'll do everything I can to help."

She looked down at the files in her hands, skimming through them quickly. The case was definitely unusual - she had never seen anything like it before.

47 pm he should have been buried today but we don't know why his heart keeps on beating.

Isabella's eyebrows furrowed as she read through the files again. She had never heard of someone being pronounced dead for hours yet their heart continued beating.

"This is truly unusual," she muttered under her breath.

She looked up at Dr. Greenwood on Lexeni phone screen with a serious expression.

"Have there been any other strange occurrences around this patient? Anything out of the ordinary?"

Dr. Greenwood, who was sitting on the other end of the call with a grave expression on his face.

"No," he said slowly. "There haven't been any other strange occurrences. We've run every test imaginable and we can't find anything wrong with the patient."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"The heart is beating but there's no brain activity. It's as if the patient is in a coma but they're not."

Isabella frowned.

"How long has this patient been in this state?"

"Three years and six months."

Isabella's eyes widened in surprise at the answer.

"Three years and six months?" she repeated incredulously.

She shook her head in disbelief. It was unheard of for someone to remain alive for so long without any brain activity or external life support systems.

"That's incredible," she said softly.

"How has he survived this long?"

Dr. Greenwood shrugged, looking equally baffled.

"We don't know," he admitted.

"We've done every test imaginable - brain scans, blood tests, you name it. There's no explanation for how he's still alive."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"We've even brought in specialists from other hospitals but no one has been able to figure out what's going on."

Isabella leaned back in her chair, steepling her fingers together thoughtfully.

"Have the Shadow Hunters Masters found anything?" Isabella asked indifferently.

Dr. Greenwood shook his head.

"No," he said quietly. "They've been investigating but they haven't found anything useful either."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"They're the best of the best, but even they're stumped by this case."

"Dr. Greenwood I already did my two operations for this month," Isabella said she thought for a moment and nodded her head.

Dr. Greenwood's expression darkened at Isabella's words.

"I understand that you've already done your two operations for the month," he said quietly.

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"But this case is different. We've exhausted all other options. This patient has been pronounced dead for years but his heart still beats on."

He leaned forward in his chair, looking directly at Isabella through the Lexeni phone screen.

"Please. We need your help."

Isabella could see the desperation in Dr. Greenwood's eyes and she knew that he was serious about this case.

She closed her eyes for a moment, weighing her options. On one hand, she had already done her two operations for the month and it went against her rules to do any more.

But on the other hand...

"This patient has been pronounced dead but his heart still beats?"

Dr. Greenwood's eyes widened in surprise.

"Four conditions?" he repeated, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and trepidation.

He took a deep breath before nodding.

"Alright," he said quietly.

"What are they?"

Isabella ticked off her conditions on her fingers as she spoke.

"First, no one can know my identity," she said firmly.

"I don't want my identity to be revealed under any circumstances."

She paused for a moment before continuing.

"Second, I want complete privacy during the operation. No one is allowed in or out of the operating room except me and the necessary medical staff."

"Third no cameras allowed inside the operating room," Isabella said she had learned that cameras could mess with her mind and mess up her surgery's results. It's not that she dislike cameras they just get in the way of her work.

Dr. Greenwood nodded in understanding as Isabella listed her conditions.

"No cameras allowed inside the operating room," he repeated quietly.

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"And what's your fourth condition?"

Isabella took a deep breath before speaking, her voice firm and unwavering.

"Fourth," she said slowly.

"No Shadow Hunters are allowed anywhere near me or this operation. I don't want them to interfere in any way."

Isabella could sense Dr. Greenwood's hesitation.

"Dr. Greenwood, are we clear?"

"Dr. Mircale Worker I won't work because the Shadow Hunters have been deeply involved in this case," Dr. Greenwood said.

Isabella's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin.

"What do you mean the Shadow Hunters are involved?" she asked coldly.

"They're supposed to be handling this kind of thing. Not me if they are so damn involved then get them to do there own damn job!" Isabella whispered yelled.

Dr. Greenwood winced at Isabella's harsh tone but he understood her frustration.

"I know," he said quietly.

"But the Shadow Hunters have been working on this case for three years and six months now, they've exhausted all their resources and still haven't found anything."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"That's why we need you."

Isabella rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on.

"Fine, but I will add three more conditions."

Dr. Greenwood sighed, mentally preparing himself for more conditions.

"Alright," he said slowly.

"What are they?"

Isabella took a deep breath before listing her conditions.

"First," she said firmly.

"I want complete privacy during this operation. No one can come in or interrupt me while I'm working."

She paused for a moment before continuing.

"Second, I want all the medical equipment and tools that I request available immediately. No excuses or delays."

"Third is that I'm not responsible for his death if he dies during the operation," Isabella said it was better to be safe then sorry.

Dr. Greenwood nodded in agreement as Isabella listed her conditions.

"I understand," he said quietly.

"You're not responsible for his death if he dies during the operation."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Is that all?"
