"Does she know how to cry now? " he said, his voice carrying a note of wonder.

A shadow passed over the butler's face. 'My Lord, what if this is unnatural? What if this is…a curse?"

Tao Xin's gaze turned sharp, his smile fading. "A curse?" he repeated, his voice cutting through the air like a blade. 'No. She is a gift.' He looked down at Lily, his expression softening once more. 'And she will need us to protect her.'

The Butler fell silent, her eyes darting nervously to the baby. But Lily, still too young to understand the words around her, felt only the warmth of her father's presence, for the first time in life, she felt safe.

The man looked at her with quiet determination. 'You are destined for great things, Ruan Siya And I will do everything in my power to ensure you are safe.'

As he spoke, a faint ripple of energy filled the air, as if his words carried a power of their own.

He made her sit on the lap as he wiped those tears away looking at those baffled eyes he smiled..

'What happened to you?! Did the poem make my daughter sad?'

They were abandoned when she was very little due to poverty. But in the orphanage, that wasn't better either. When they grew up they were told to take care of themselves. So nowhere was safe. The sudden sense of being safe now, makes her heart feel more tight and the tears fall nonstop. Tao hugged her after seeing her cry.

'You didn't cry when you were born, didn't even cry when your mother couldn't tend to you because of her work, you did never cry while hearing my poems. What made you so upset today?' Tao Xin become concerned.

Tao's hands froze mid-pat, his breath catching at the sound of her small voice. "Pa…pa!" she said again, her tone filled with innocent joy and newfound recognition.

For a moment, he couldn't believe his ears. His heart swelled, his composure slipping into a rare vulnerability. He blinked rapidly, as if trying to clear his vision.

"Yes!" he replied, his voice warm but shaky.

Lily, with her wide and pure voice said, "Papa!" She called again, her joy was bubbling up as if she'd been waiting to say the word forever.

Tao chuckled softly, his lips curving into a radiant smile that lit up his face. "Uhmm," he replied again, his throat tight with emotion.

But Lily didn't stop. "Papa! Papa! Papa!" she chirped, each repetition more than the last, her eyes sparkling with trust and love. Each time she called, Tao answered with unwavering patience and delight, a soft "Yes," or "I'm here."

To anyone watching, it might have seemed like a simple exchange, but to Lily, it was everything. The word "Papa" carried with it a weight she hadn't expected—a sense of purpose, of belonging, of love she had been yearning for.

As her tiny arms reached up toward him, he leaned down and scooped her up into his embrace, holding her close.

Lily rested her head against his shoulder, her small hands gripping his collar as if she never wanted to let go. "Papa," she murmured one more time, the word soft but certain, like a promise.

She could feel the love this father has for his daughter. She knew that her tears were staining his shirt yet she didn't stop. Today,Only today she wanted to cry her heart out.

Rose was teary too. Tao noticed Rose and took Rose on his lap too. The girls were adored by their father.

The dim light of the moon streamed through the window, casting silvery shadows across the room. Lily sat up in her bed, her mind racing. She could hear Rose's voice clear as day, though her sister's lips hadn't moved.

"Rose? How are we talking to each other like this?" Lily asked again, her voice barely a whisper in the stillness.

Rose, lying on her bed, tilted her head thoughtfully. "I don't know," she admitted. "I could always…read you, I guess. Even when we didn't speak, I knew what you were thinking."

Lily's brows furrowed. "But this—this is different. It's like you're inside my head." Rose nodded slowly, her expression thoughtful. "It is. I feel it too. Like a thread connecting us."

Lily's heart pounded as she tried to make sense of it. She closed her eyes, searching her fragmented memories. "I don't remember anything about being born again," she said finally, frustration edging her voice,"Everything before this… it's just blank."

"Really?" Rose's eyes widened, puzzled. "I remember. Bits and pieces, at least. I remember the orphanage, the hunger, the sickness… and now this."

Lily looked at her sister sharply. "What do you mean, 'and now this'? Where are we, Rose? What happened to us?"

Rose hesitated for a moment before answering. "We're still in London," she said finally. "But it's different. Father is a merchant. We have a home, Lily. A real home."

Lily's mind swirled with questions, but one thing stood out above the rest. "Do you think this connection between us… this way of speaking… it has something to do with why we're here?"

Rose looked thoughtful. "Maybe. Or maybe it's just us. We've always been different, haven't we?"

Lily nodded slowly, though doubt lingered in her mind. Whatever had happened to them, whatever strange bond they now shared, it felt like the key to something bigger—something they couldn't yet understand.

Lily's eyes widened as she listened to Rose's words, her mind struggling to keep up with the revelations. "A different world," she repeated slowly, the phrase sinking in.

Rose nodded, her expression calm but tinged with curiosity. "It feels that way sometimes. Don't you think? Everything is so… grand here. And the things they can do—things Father and even some of the staff can do—it doesn't feel like the London we knew."

Lily's mind flashed back to the moment Tao had made her float, the golden light wrapping around her like a gentle embrace. "I thought it was just a dream," she murmured. "But it felt so real. Do you think he's… like us?"

"Like us?" Rose asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You know," Lily said, lowering her voice as if someone might overhear, "different. Special. Like how we can hear each other in our minds."

Rose tilted her head, considering the idea. "Maybe. He does."

Lily frowned, her thoughts racing. "And what about Mama? You said she's a commanding officer in the military. Does she… does she have powers too?"
