Secrets from Leah

Cristine's POV

"Things are already changing," Andrea said. "I want you to devise a means you can be close to Leah… She is too far away, and that ground isn't good either."

I had no answer to give to her, just staring at her to gauge her expression. Was it just fear or concern? It could be both, and her face perfectly portrayed them. Her dress was still intact, but her skin was sweating. Something must have happened that she wasn't saying, but I wasn't willing to ask about it.

"Leah is my friend, and I've always cared about her."

She went her fingers through my hair. "I've always known that. You have always been together."

I saw Roshan coming towards us, and she walked a few steps away from me.

"Think about that. She's the only one of my children I can keep an account of. She's the only one I truly know, no one else."

Roshan was sweating, gripping her by her wrist. "Let's go."
