What if they aren't as far off as you think?

Leah's POV

He had his hands moving over my thighs as a way to make me let go of the grief that was starting to build up in me.

"It's unreasonable for your father to have made them go far from home," he said. "But he could have his own reasons."

"I don't know."

"But what if they aren't as far off as you think?"

I fixed my eyes directly at him. What was it with him saying 'what if they aren't far off'? That could raise so many questions in my mind, but would only be leading me against a brick wall. I couldn't think of that possibility, but he was bringing it to light.

"You might have an idea?"

He left the bed, not going straight into the topic as I wanted him to. I waited for him to say something more into it, but he seemed to regret hunting at that.

"You know something that I don't?"

"It's not about knowing what you don't know. All Alphas always make investigations."
