Emerald felt an awkward discomfort gnawing at her, the kind that left her hanging in a state of unsatisfied longing. She turned to look out the window, hoping to calm her mind, but it did little to ease the tension in her body. The sensation lingered, unable to rise or fall, leaving her in an excruciating state of unease.
She leaned back in her seat with a frustrated sigh, as if only then remembering to breathe in order to stay alive. Her face, along with her ears and neck, was flushed a deep red. Her lips, which had been kissed by Alaric, glistened with moisture, and her small mouth remained slightly open. Her usually cold eyes now held a different, softer expression as she continued to look at him with a mix of bewilderment.
