chapter 8: My life my choice
"Not too long",he replied.
"You are an amazing dancer", Nicheal complimented her.
She beamed , her hand clasped together" oh my gosh thank you" but instantly her brow frowned nervousness and concern slowly creeped inside her head, "I hope I remember the steps tomorrow "
"Dinner is set" , Butler lee announced.
"Let go and eat ", Nicheal said holding Chris hand .
At the dinning table
"The food looks delicious" , Emily said while sitting down.
"Am happy you like it", Butler lee felt happy.
Gina, Damian and Tae-hyun also sat down.
"Why do you look scared", Tae-hyun asked Damian.
"Weren't able to meet the young mistress on time what if something bad happened to her before the young master came, we failed to protect her", Damian answered.
"Yes,You indeed failed to protect my wife", Nicheal said stopping the conversation going on between Tae-hyun and Damian.
"We are sorry Mr Kim", Gina and Damian said in unison not daring to face him.
"I Instructed you two to look for Emily but where were the both of you when someone almost hit her,You two will have to face punishment , so that next time you two will know how to act quickly", Nicheal said looking at them.
"No don't please it is not their fault,I was who bumped into her", Emily said feeling sad. She didn't what anything to happen to them because of her.
Nicheal wanted to say something but Emily pleaded so he let it go .
"Fine", Nicheal sighed deeply.
"But they won't be a next time"
"Thank you "young master Kim", they said in unison.
"Thank her not me" ,Nicheal said looking at Emily.
"Thank you Mrs Kim", they corrected themselves.
"You are welcome, as long as you two don't have to any punishment it is fine", Emily responded while putting some braised beef in Chris plate.
"Eat this it is good for you ", she said to Chris.
"Hmm ", Chris responded.
(Ring tone) Emily's phone rang next to her.
As she answered the phone Victoria voice could be heard from the other end of the phone.
"Hey brat, we holding a banquet next week. Make sure you come, it is not a request it's an order from dad".with that She ended the call not giving Emily a chance to speak.
Emily dropped the phone feeling irritated
"Who called", Nicheal asked sensing her anger.
Emily rolled her eyes feeling very annoyed "my sister She said my family is holding a banquet next week and I have to attend."
"Are you going to attend it"he asked.
Emily let out a long sigh " I have to it's an order from my father."
Nicheal murmured to himself "The bridton family is really something."
"Chris do you want come too", Emily asked, she wanted him to see his real parents and sister for the last time before she completely sever all ties with the bridton family.
"Yes please", he answered smiling.
"Excuse me i have something do I will in my study if you need me", Nicheal said excusing himself.
"Mrs Kim thank you", Gina said as soon as Nicheal left , although she didn't want to admit it but she felt extremely scared that she might lose her rights as Mrs Kim bodyguard.
Emily smiled warmly at her,"you don't have to call me Mrs Kim".
Gina lowered her head not daring Emily's gaze, "We are only allowed to keep a professional relationship."
Emily face was full of disappointment "oh I see,then you are welcome "
Emily so confused she had no idea why Damian and Gina were acting like this towards her.
"You should eat more my love", Butler lee said to Gina patting her head gently.
Emily looked at Butler lee for some time before excusing herself, "Thank you for the food Butler lee, Emily said slightly bowing as a sign of respect.
Tae-hyun also stood up following Emily.
When they arrived at nicheal's study, Tae-hyun stood outside directly opening the door for Emily.
"Can I talk to you please", she whispered.
" Hmm,Come here ", Nicheal said stretching his hand .
Emily walked up to him and held his hand.
Nicheal patted his lap lightly signaling her to sit on his lap.
Emily sat her down on his lap.
"What is it that you want to tell me", Nicheal asked her.
"Why can't Gina and Damian call me by my name" Emily said shyly avoiding his gaze.
Nicheal thought about it for something although he knew how to respond to her question but what he didn't know was why she is bothered about it.
"Because you are their boss".
He looked at her calmly before continuing "Am the the young master and you are the young mistress, so they can't possibly call you by your name".
"But they have never called me young mistress", Emily said looking confused.
"I wasn't sure if you will comfortable with you being called young mistress and also I didn't want to burden you with the responsibilities of bearing the name Kim.
"They are many people with the surname Kim". Emily said teasingly.
"But not everyone who bares Kim is the CEO of han corp". He said calmly
"So What exactly are my responsibilities", She asked.
"A young mistress must make a name for herself in the business world and also never bring shame to the Kim name". He replied to her.
"It has become a tradition in my family".
" So all the young mistress I. Your family their own company ". she asked.
"Yes , for example my mum has a clothing brand and my sister has a cosmetics brand and they are both really successful ".
" I see "Emily thought to herself
I promise to bring shame to your name, she said sarcastically.
"Okay" he said patting her head not minding her sarcasm.
"Is that all you wanted to ask",he asked.
"No but I don't know if it is appropriate to ask", she whispered softly.
He looked at her feeling confused, "what is it".
"What exactly is the relationship between Butler lee and Gina, because being a little bit affectionate to her". She softly almost even whispering afraid that Butler lee will come from nowhere and hear what she asked.
Nicheal looked at her tiny figure, a smile creeped on his face making him look even more handsome than he already is .
"Are you worried about Gina" he asked still smiling.
"Yes , am a little worried since she is under my care". She replied softly.
"Emily "
"Hmm"
"Gina is Butler lee daughter " Nicheal said watching as her expression slowly change from worry to surprise.
" Am so sorry I misunderstood their relationship"
"Don't worry about it am happy you care about her " Nicheal said looking at her with gratitude.
Emily felt so embarrassed but tried her best to maintain her composure
"Emily" Nicheal called out softly.
"Hmm"she answered still feeling embarrassed.
Nicheal looked at Emily for a long pondering whether to ask her or not, Emily was waiting patiently for what he wanted to say but silence filled the room . She felt quite confused didn't he want to tell me something. Emily thought were obstructed by Nicheal's sudden question breaking the silence.
"Why do you want revenge on your family".
Emily was stunned by the sudden question but put on a calm demeanor, closing her eyes trying to recall all the time her father and stepmother will hit her or take things from her like clothes, shoes and even toys to give it to her stepsister .
She opened her eyes to look at him but found out that her eyes were wet , she was crying.
"My dad cheated on my mum and lied to everyone".
Emily explained to him how her father remarried immediately after the news of her mother's death and how he lied to everyone that her stepmother was a single mom , so married her because she and her daughter were the same age but it turns out that her step sister is actually her father biological daughter so he was cheating on her mom for a long time and got her mom and his mistress pregnant at the same time but she was three months older , that meaning she was born first because of some issues during her mom's pregnancy.
If she wants revenge her father is the first target.
Emily glanced at nicheal's phone , the time was past ten .
"Ahh it is late I have to wake up early tomorrow, bye bye" Emily rushed out of the study .
Nicheal pov :
As soon as Emily left Nicheal's phone rang .

Nicheal glanced at the phone it was his brother-in-law calling him , he answered the call but it immediately switched to video call. Nicheal let out a long sigh before looking at his brother-in-law through the phone with an expressionless face .
"Why are you calling me". He asked indifferently.
"What with the attitude, anyways I just called to check if you were still married" Min-Hyuk asked (Nicheal'sbrother-in-law)
With a smirk .
Nicheal let out a long sigh not changing his expression he asked "why would you ask such question".
Meanwhile Min-Hyuk who was still smirking answered "with your cold attitude I was just worried that she would ran away ".
Nicheal did not mind his response , he just rolled his eyes and said"Thank you for worrying but am still married ".
"Ah where is she is" nayeon asked from the other end .
"She is probably sleeping " he answered.
"I hope you are not being cold to her" nayeon (Nicheal's sister) asked.
"No" Nicheal said coldly.
Nayeon let out a long sigh , she was used to Nicheal's cold attitude but she was worried about Emily.
"I heard you took some marriage advice from Min-Hyuk " nayeon asked.
" Hmm" he replied.
I had to advice from a love sick man, but it kind of worked. Nicheal thought to himself.
"Noona do you remember aunt Lee-Ann". Nicheal asked remembering something.
" Yes why did you ask", nayeon asked trying figure out what her brother was thinking about.
"And you know she is Emily's mother" he asked.
"Yes grandpa told me" nayeon answered feeling confused.
"Emily believes that aunt Lee-Ann is still alive somewhere ". Nicheal Said helpless
"Do you believe her" nayeon asked.
Nicheal thought to himself before answering " yes , I also feel the same way".
Nayeon sighed before asking him "are you worried about Emily".
Nicheal was stunned by her question but he couldn't hide the fact that he was worried about Emily especially after she told him what she has been through,
"Yes I am " .
Nayeon and Min-Hyuk looked at each other shocked that Nicheal who is a cold-hearted person could actually care about Emily so easily.
After talking Nicheal ended the call feeling exhausted.
Meanwhile in Emily's room
Emily just finished showering, she changed into her pajamas getting ready to go to bed , the next second her phone rang.
(Ringtone)
Emily looked at her to see who was calling it was her father.
Seriously this father and daughter duo won't let her live in peace , she thought to herself before answering.
"Emily how long does it take you to answer your damn phone ". Richard (Emily's father) yelled from the phone.
"Sorry I was busy " she answered with a scaratic tone .
Richard noticed the difference in Emily's tone normally when he yelled at her , she will be so scared barely able to form a sentence with out stammering but she dared to scaratic with him , fine he was going to show her that he is her father.
" I want you to send the diamond necklace that the young master Kim gave you on your engagement for you sister" Richard said with commanding tone.
Emily sneered "And what if I don't what to" .
Richard was shocked by Emily's rebellious respond , angrily he yelled" It not a request it is an order " .
Emily rolled her eyes , if it was before she would have cowardly obeyed him but now she doesn't care " my life my choice, and besides if you want it so badly than come take it yourself but be warned Nicheal doesn't allow stranger to enter our home ".
" Am still your " before he could finish his sentence Emily ended the call.
Richard furiously threw his phone against the wall, leaving Victoria stunned.
Victoria glanced at mum who was trying to coax her dad.
"Emily I hate you" she said furiously .
