As Freya stood in the silent woods, her heart thumping in her breast, the wind howling about her like a savage about to charge. She kept thinking about what Kade had said to her. "Freya, you cannot stop what is about to happen. Now, not even your abilities can save you.

I tried to steady myself by gritting my teeth. I had to maintain my concentration. However, the mistrust Kade's warning sowed in me persisted. With every breath, the weight of it suffocated me as it pressed against my chest. I could feel the strength rising inside of me as I gazed up at the storm-like whirling clouds in the dark sky. Even though my hands were shaking at my sides, I couldn't afford to show anyone.

Are you alright? Finnick's voice interrupted my train of thought. His eyes scanned me with that familiar, protective worry as he stood just behind me.

I murmured, "I'm fine," but my mouth tasted bitter from the lie.
