Chapter 67:The Battle Of Wills

Freya's POV

I slammed onto the floor.

My body ached, yet I was barely able to catch my breath when the air changed around me. In the shadows, a hefty presence encircled me like imperceptible bonds.

A loud laugh reverberated across the silence. "You're more resilient than I thought."

Shaking off the dust, I pushed myself to my feet. Kade was standing a few steps away, unaffected, grinning as he observed me. Winds swirled around us, but his dark garments hardly moved.

I balled my fists up. "What is this location?"

"The core of real power," he said with ease. Freya, you're caught between two universes. The eternal and the living. The laws of your world don't apply here.

I felt a chill go through me. His stronghold was no longer this. This was a very different matter.

I spoke carefully, "You knew I was coming."

He grinned more broadly. Naturally, I did. Did you believe that I wouldn't be ready for a challenge?
