(Casey's POV)
__________
Jace's hair was tousled, like he'd been running his fingers through it on the way here, and his eyes locked onto mine like I was the only thing worth looking at in the world. For a second, just one second, I forgot everything. Kira, Vic, Maven, the damn tabloids—I let them all fall away.
Because he was here.
Because I could still feel the imprint of his hands on my skin from this morning. Because I could still taste him on my lips from last night. Because my body still remembered what it felt like to have him pressed against me, inside me, making me forget my name and moan his name like it was the only word that ever mattered.
He gave me a slow, crooked smile and slid into the seat beside me rather than across. His thigh brushed mine, and the warmth of him seeped into me like heat from a fire I didn't know I needed.
"Hey," he said softly.
That voice—velvet and steel—slid down my spine.
