Chapter 21
Damian quietly pushed the door open, his sharp eyes landing on Tanin, who was seated by the window, her head tilted slightly to the side as she dozed off. The soft moonlight streaming through the curtains illuminated her serene face, and for a moment, Damian stood there, captivated. He sighed, knowing she must have waited for him to return.
Stepping closer, he leaned down and gently placed his arms under her to lift her. But just as he was about to carry her to the bed, her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at him.
"You're back," she murmured sleepily, her voice tinged with warmth.
"Yes," he said softly, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "You should be in bed, not waiting up for me."
"I needed to talk to you," Tanin said, suddenly more alert. She sat up straighter, her expression serious. "I discovered something important."
