Chapter 73

Tanin sat on the edge of her bed, her arms crossed as she studied Damian. He was still holding his phone, his expression cold and unreadable after hanging up on Kitana.

She had been watching him closely since the moment the call came in. She saw how his jaw tensed, how his eyes darkened with disgust. And despite everything, despite the pain he had caused her, she knew one thing for sure—he wasn't lying.

Still, she wasn't ready to trust him completely. Not yet.

Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.

A number she didn't recognize.

Damian noticed the shift in her expression. "Who is it?" he asked.

Tanin glanced at him briefly before answering.

"Hello?"

There was a moment of silence.

Then a familiar, trembling voice came through.

"Tanin…"

Tanin's lips curled in disgust.

"Kitana," she said flatly.

Damian's head snapped toward her, his eyes narrowing.
