Tanin slowly blinked her eyes open, her body still heavy with exhaustion. The warm glow of the hospital room's overhead light bathed the space in a soft hue, and the muffled sounds of conversation filled the air.

Her ears caught bits of laughter, hushed whispers, and excited murmurs.

"They look just like Damian."

"No, I think the girl has Tanin's eyes."

"They are so cute. Too cute. But I swear, I will get revenge on them for making us stay up all night."

That last part made Tanin smile weakly, her lips barely curving upward.

She knew that voice.

Leila.

And the one agreeing with her had to be Lyra.

Tanin let out a soft cough, drawing everyone's attention to her.

The chatter stopped immediately as heads turned toward her.

Emily was the first to rush forward, her eyes filled with worry.

"My baby," she breathed, brushing Tanin's hair away from her forehead. "How do you feel?"
