Chapter 97

Tanin's heart was still pounding violently against her ribs as she stumbled out of her room, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. Panic clawed at her chest, her legs moving on their own as she sprinted down the hall. She didn't even notice the maids standing outside her door, their startled expressions barely registering in her mind.

Her vision was blurred with fear, her thoughts tangled in the nightmare she had just escaped.

The image of her pups vanishing into the darkness, their screams echoing in her ears, made her stomach twist painfully. The terror of not being able to protect them still gripped her like an iron fist, refusing to let go.

She had to see them.

She had to make sure they were safe.

The hallways seemed impossibly long, the distance stretching endlessly between her and the nursery. Her bare feet slapped against the cold floor as she ran, ignoring the concerned voices behind her.
