Tanin smirked at Leila's comment and leaned back in her chair. "What was that you said about playing chess with me?" she asked, arching an eyebrow.

Leila groaned dramatically. "Ugh, Tanin, do you really have to bring that up right now? I already told you—I can't play chess with you." She waved her hand dismissively. "You'd crush me in minutes, and I'd rather not embarrass myself."

Tanin chuckled. "Come on, I'll go easy on you."

Leila shot her a skeptical look. "You? Go easy? That's the biggest lie I've ever heard."

They were still teasing each other when Damian's name flashed on Tanin's phone. She picked up immediately, her voice warm.

"Damian."

"Tanin," his voice came through the speaker, filled with relief and admiration. "You did it."

Tanin smiled. "Of course I did."
